• A theatrical movie named "Bewitched" was broadcast through two different TV stations in southwest Alabama (WFNA-TV and WALA-TV) this Saturday (WFNA-TV had it on their main broadcast channel between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. whereas WALA-TV had it on their main broadcast channel between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.). 

• The local news program WALA-TV had on their main broadcast channel between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. this Saturday ("FOX 10 News in the Morning") had a different weather reporter during each half of its broadcast (Adam Olivier for the first half (between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.); Michael White for the second half (between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.)). 

• Between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. this Saturday, the main broadcast channel for WEAR-TV had a national TV program ("The Rise of Terrorism: Unveiling the Truth") that was set to appear on the main broadcast channel for WJTC-TV earlier this calendar week (both WEAR-TV and WJTC-TV were members of the company that provided the program (the Sinclair Broadcast Group)). 

News for Friday, July 29th, 2016

• Earlier this July, a promotional video for a news service owned by the holding (or "parent") company of WPMI-TV and WJTC-TV (the Sinclair Broadcast Group) began appearing on their main broadcast channels on a regular basis (the name of the news service was Circa).

• Some of the presenters for the local news operation at WPMI-TV were using some of their local news programming for this calendar week to gossip about a former resident of Mobile (Jimmy Buffett) being set to perform songs on a national TV program set to be part of their programming this Friday (the name of the program was "Today").

• This past Tuesday on the twenty-sixth day of this July, the main broadcast channel for WJTC-TV had a promotional video for WPMI-TV with their main weather reporter for their local news operation (Chris Dunn) saying they had partnerships with radio stations owned by Cumulus Media located in Mobile (including WBLX-FM, WDLT-FM, WGOK-AM, WXQW-AM, and WABD-FM) in preparation of the possibility of a tropical cyclone (or hurricane) affecting Mobile and other parts of their local broadcast areas. 

News for Thursday, July 28th, 2016

• One of the news presenters and news reporters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Devon Walsh) had used the last segment in their broadcast of one of their local news programs for this Thursday ("WKRG News 5 at Noon") to enthusiastically say she would "never take the Bayway, ever" in reference to one of the bridges across Mobile Bay (Jubilee Parkway was the official name of the bridge; Bayway was a common nickname for it) while discussing it one of the weather reporters for the news operation (Thomas Geboy) in the segment after presenting a report about a wreck on the bridge and traffic on it being slow as a result of it earlier in the the segment. 

• One of the news presenters for the local news operation at WPMI-TV (Greg Peterson) had promoted a national TV program from their holding (or "parent") company (the Sinclair Broadcast Group) as if it were one of their own local TV programs on at least one of the local news programs for the main broadcast channel of their companion station ("Local 15 News at 6:30 p.m." for WJTC-TV) this past Wednesday on the twenty-seventh day of this July in advance of it being broadcast on the channel this Thursday (the name of the program was "The Rise of Terrorism: Unveiling the Truth", as for when it was set to appear on the channel, it was set to appear between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.).*

• One of the hosts for a local TV program dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles (Joe Emer of "Studio 10") had mentioned a candidate for the presidency of the United States who was not mentioned as often as either one of the candidates for the presidency recently nominated by members of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party of the United States (Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump respectively) on the local news programs for his station (WALA-TV) over the past year: the one nominated by members by the Libertarian Party named Gary Johnson (he was mentioned as one of the candidates whose names was expected to appear on the ballots of every state for the election for the presidency of the United States by this November).

News for Wednesday, July 27th, 2016

• This past Tuesday on the twenty-sixth day of this July, one of the news reporters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Joseph Blake (J. B.) Biunno) said he was part of a group dedicated to a video game named Pokemon GO while doing a report about them and other groups like them (in pertinence to a plan of theirs to play the game in the down-town area of Mobile later that day) for one of the local news programs for WKRG-TV that day ("WKRG News 5 at 6 [p.m.]"). 

• The hosts of a local TV program dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles (Joe Emer and Chasity Byrd of "Studio 10") appeared to had been ridiculing an maintainer (identified simply George) for their station (WALA-TV) that one of them had said did not like being on camera by having him appear on camera anyway while he was working off the set of the program near the end of its broadcast this Wednesday (the host named Joe Emer said what the maintainer was doing was related to some monitors in the broadcast facility that were connected to each other to form a single image (he said there were nine monitors in total and that he would use them for another local TV program for their station named "First and 10" (it was usually about football games involving players representing public high schools in their local broadcast area and usually part of their programming during public school years)).

Commentary: Broadcasters boasting about awards and elevating certain candidates for the presidency the United States

• Some local broadcasters were still boasting either about their selves or their broadcast operations being honored through an awards program for a publication based in Mobile ("The Nappie Awards" for Lagniappe) during the previous calendar week in their broadcasts by the start of this calendar week since the awards ceremony for the program had occurred shortly after the first times they had used their positions to boast about the honors. I guess they were giving their selves breaks from what they were hired to do for a while (like presenting news unrelated to their selves) and taking time to either promote their selves or their broadcast operations in general for the sake of having more regular viewers and/or listeners and sustaining the ones they had all ready. 

• I believe some folks in charge of the news departments of some of the local TV stations in southwest Alabama got what they wanted from the conventions that some members of the Republican Party and the Democratic Party were holding to nominate candidates for the presidency of the United States from their respective parties: the nominations of the ones named Donald Trump (for the Republican Party) and Hillary Clinton (for the Democratic Party). The reason for my believing so was because of some of their news presenters and news reporters putting more emphasis on those candidates than any other candidate over the past year; not even those of the same political parties in addition to those of other political parties like the Libertarian Party and the Green Party. I wish they had given more attention to other candidates like the nominee for president from the Libertarian Party named Gary Johnson  (personally I like him and many of his stances as a candidate). I was very glad he was mentioned by some local TV news presenters at the very least, but more could have been done for him and other candidates besides the ones named Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

News for Monday, July 25th, 2016

• WKRG-TV and WPMI-TV had interviews with a member of the House of Representatives of the United States from the state of Alabama (Bradley Byrne) on their local news programs for the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. ("WKRG News 5 This Morning" and "Local 15 Today" respectively) this Monday.

• One of the news presenters for the local news operation at WPMI-TV (Kelly Jones) had referred to a candidate for the presidency of the United States (Hillary Clinton) who may or may not be nominated for that position at a convention for her and other members of her political party (the Democratic Party) later this calendar week as both "presumptive nominee" and "eventual nominee" in their local news programming this Monday.*

• Last Sunday on the twenty-fourth day of this July, some messages blaming WKRG-TV for an abrupt interruption in their broadcast of a national TV news program from their main provider of network programming ("60 Minutes" from the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS)) that day were posted onto the wall of their official Facebook page that day (according to WKRG-TV, the problem was actually on the side of the provider of the program).**

(**the news presenter on the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV later that Sunday (Ashley Knight on "WKRG News 5 at 10 [p.m.]") presented a report about the part of the network program that got interrupted without mentioning the interruption (she mentioned a video of the part that got interrupted being available on the official World Wide Web site for the network program at the end of the report, though)).

News for Sunday, July 24th, 2016

• The main broadcast channel for WJTC-TV (also known as "UTV 44") had a promotional video for a new TV program ("Harry") set to be available to them and other TV stations across the United States through syndication this September (it had the main announcer for WJTC-TV (Jerry Thompson) saying, "Coming soon to UTV 44").

• Between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. this Sunday, the main broadcast channel for WJTC-TV had an episode of a syndicated TV program that was usually set to be part of their programming feed for the channel between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. from Tuesday through Saturday and between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Saturday in recent times (the name of the program was "Family Guy").

• One of the local news programs WPMI-TV had on their main broadcast channel this past Saturday on the twenty-third day of this July ("Local 15 News at 5 p.m.") had promotions for two national TV programs from their holding (or "parent") company (the Sinclair Broadcast Group) that were set to be part of their programming feed for the channel between that Saturday and this Sunday (the one named "The Rise of Terrorism: What You Need to Know" was set to be part of its programming that Saturday between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. while the one named "Full Measure with Sharyl Attkison" was set to be part of its programming this Sunday between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.).  

News for Saturday, July 23rd, 2016

• One of the local news programs WALA-TV had on their main broadcast channel this past Thursday on the twenty-first day of this July had a "special report" about three minutes after having video of a live ceremony for a candidate for the presidency of the United States (Donald Trump) that lasted nearly one hour and 10 minutes longer than the report itself (the video of the ceremony lasted from 9:17 p.m. until 10:37 p.m. whereas the special report lasted from 10:40 p.m. until 10:49 p.m. that day).* 

• One of the local news programs WKRG-TV usually had in their main broadcast channel on a daily basis ("WKRG News 5 at 10 [p.m.]") had a report (about a series of shootings in the nation of Germany) with an introduction that did not suggest that it would be narrated by one of the news presenters for the program (Mel Showers) this past Friday on the twenty-second day of this July (this was how the report was introduced (by the same news presenter): "CBS News correspondent Rylee Carlson has more from London").

• The main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV had a promotional video for a law firm based in their local broadcast area ("Levin, Papantonio, Thomas, Mitchell, Rafferty & Proctor" in the city of Pensacola in the state of Florida) with a former news presenter and news reporter for WEAR-TV (Mollye Barrows) during one of its breaks from regular programming this past Friday (according to a Facebook page attributed to her, she was a specialist in marketing and social means of communication for the law firm in recent times).

(*the program was longer than the local news programs they usually had on their main broadcast channel between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday in recent times ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m." (it usually ended by 10:00 p.m.) and "FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m." (it usually ended by 10:30 p.m.)).

News for Friday, July 22nd, 2016

• Earlier this calendar week, specifically this past Wednesday on the twentieth day of this July, WALA-TV was the only TV station in the TV market (or designated market area (DMA)) for Mobile to have news reports about their local broadcast area on their main programming channel during a time period in which they and the other TV stations in the area with departments dedicated to providing news reports about their local broadcast areas (WKRG-TV, WPMI-TV, and WEAR-TV) usually had such reports on their respective main broadcast channels on a daily basis from Monday through Friday in recent times (between 10:00 p.m. and 10:35 p.m.) due to the other stations each having special network programming about a live speech by a candidate for the vice presidency of the United States (Mike Pence) on their main broadcast channel that day. As for whether WALA-TV still had local news reports on their main broadcast channel during that time period this past Thursday on the twenty-first day of this July while the other stations each had special network programming about a live speech by a candidate for the presidency of the United States (Donald Trump) on their own main broadcast channels, they did not, for they had their own programming about the speech incorporated into one of their local news programs for that day rather than that of special network programs like the ones on the main broadcast channels of the stations (the programming by WALA-TV lasted from 9:17 p.m. until 10:37 p.m.).*

News for Thursday, July 21st, 2016

• WKRG-TV had some reports about some members of their local news operation giving lemonade to members of the public in Mobile free of charge on some of their local news programs this Thursday (some other reports about these members were also posted onto their official Facebook page this Thursday). 

• According to a World Wide Web site specialized in auctions named eBay, it had an auction for a microphone flag for WKRG-TV that was made sometime between the years 1980 and 1997 back in the month of June of this calendar year (according to the site, it was sold for the price it was given at the beginning of the auction ($100)).  

• Some broadcasters in southwest Alabama (including some news presenters for the local news operations.at WPMI-TV and WKRG-TV) had boasted about how either they, their fellow employees, or their broadcast operations were honored through an awards program by a publication based in southwest Alabama while broadcasting for their stations this Thursday (the name of the awards program was "The Nappie Awards"; the name of the publication was Lagniappe).

News for Wednesday, July 20th, 2016

• According to WALA-TV, lightning caused various technical problems in their broadcast operation this Wednesday.  

• WKRG-TV and WALA-TV each had a report about members of WAVH-FM and a company specialized in making signs named ABC Signs donating proceeds for T-shirts sponsored by their respective companies to help finance the department of police for the city of Mobile and the office of the sheriff for the county where the city was located (the county was also named Mobile) in their local news programming this Wednesday. 

• WKRG-TV had a "national correspondent" (named Jim Austin) credited under the name of a different "national correspondent" (named Mark Meredith) on their local news program for the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. ("WKRG News 5 This Morning") this Wednesday (the name was used in the introduction to a report narrated by the one named Jim Austin and a digital graphic that appeared over him in the report (the introduction was given by one of the news presenters for the program (Bill Riales)).  

News for Tuesday, July 19th, 2016

• WALA-TV weather reports with graphics resembling human faces ("emojis") displaying different emotions based on certain weather conditions in their local news programming this Tuesday (they were named "emoji" forecasts).

• One of the news presenters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Jessica Taloney) compared the entrance of a candidate for the presidency of the United States (Donald Trump) at a convention for his political party (the Republican Party) this past Monday on the eighteenth day of this July to what she said was "something out of the WWE".

• One of the weather reporters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (John Nodar) complimented the hosts of a national news program from their main provider of network programming (Gayle King, Charlie Rose, and Norah O'Donnell of "CBS This Morning" from the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS)) that usually appeared on their main broadcast channel from Monday through Friday mornings in recent times while having a conversation with the hosts of one of their own news programs for Monday through Friday mornings (Bill Riales and Jessica Taloney of  "WKRG News 5 This Morning") this Tuesday. 

News for Monday, July 18th, 2016

• One of the local news programs WKRG-TV had on their main broadcast channel this Monday ("WKRG News 5 at 6" between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.) ended with a news report that was not broadcast in its entirety (it was broadcast in its entirety later this Monday on the local news program they had on the channel between 10:00 p.m. and 10:35 p.m. ("WKRG News 5 at 10")). 

• According to WPMI-TV, some of the news reporters for their local news operation (Bryan Carnaggio and Christian Jennings) were in the city of Baton Rouge in the state of Louisiana doing some live news reports about a series of shootings that occurred there last Sunday on the seventeenth day of this July for some of the local news programming they had between then and this Monday.   

• Last Sunday on the seventeenth day of this July, the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV had one of their local news programs ("WKRG News 5 at 5" for Sundays) instead of a special edition of a network news program from their main provider of network programming ("The CBS Weekend News" from the the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS)) after having golf programming from the same provider during the first half of the time period in which both programs were set to be part of its programming on Sunday evenings in recent times (5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m).

News for Sunday, July 17th, 2016

• A certain group of images of one of the news presenters for the local news operation at WALA-TV (Bob Grip) was added to their official World Wide Web site in honor of his birthday for this calendar year (it was this past Friday on the fifteenth day of this July).

• One of the weather reporters for the local news operation at WALA-TV (Matt Barrentine) had used one of their local news programs for this Sunday (specifically their local news program for Saturday and Sunday mornings: "FOX 10 News in the Morning") to introduce a new weather reporter for the operation (Adam Olivier).* 

• One of the news reporters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Jacqueline Quynh) said they had "breaking news" about an interview that one of other news reporters for the operation (Alison Spann) had conducted with the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (John Brennan) while presenting a report about it on one of their local news programs for this past Saturday on the sixteenth day of this July (the "breaking news" concerned some comments the director made about an attack in the national of France this past Thursday on the fourteenth day of this July and members of the military of the nation of Turkey attempting to change the government of that nation this past Friday on the fifteenth day of this July; as for the name of the news program, it was "WKRG News 5 at 6").**

• According to a World Wide Web page for a cable TV company named the Comcast Corporation, their contracts to retransmit the main programming feeds for WPMI-TV, WJTC-TV, WEAR-TV, and WFGX-TV were set to expire by the end of this July. 

• One of the local news programs for WKRG-TV ("WKRG News 5 This Morning: Saturday") had a profile of a TV program based on the series of video games (both of which were named "Pokemon") that was the subject of several news programs of they had in their local news programming this calendar week (the profile was part of a regular series of profiles for the program that were usually about past network TV programs that were originally broadcast on Saturday mornings).

News for Friday, July 15th, 2016

• The official World Wide Web site for WALA-TV recently had an article concerning a satellite TV company named Dish Network and a contract they had to provide the main programming feed for WALA-TV through their satellite TV system in recent times (the contract was set to expire this Saturday on the sixteenth day of this July). 

• One of the local news programs for WALA-TV ("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") had a news report (about an attack in the nation of France) with a member of the Cable News Network (Mary Moloney) signing off with the brand name for the local news operation at WALA-TV this past Thursday on the fourteenth day of this July (this is what the member said: "Mary Moloney, FOX 10 News").

• According to WKRG-TV, one of the news reporters for their local news operation (Alison Spann) was set to have an "exclusive, in-depth" interview with the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (John Brennan) at their headquarters in Virginia (specifically the city of Langley located there) this Saturday and that they would have such an interview in their programming by the end of this calendar week afterwards. 

News for Thursday, July 14th, 2016

• One of the news reporters for the local news operation at WPMI-TV (Katie Herrera) got birthday wishes ("happy" ones) from both WPMI-TV and WALA-TV this Thursday (the wishes from WPMI-TV came from a colleague of hers (Darwin Singleton) while part of a local news program with her ("Local 15 Today"); the wish from WALA-TV came from her husband (Joe Emer) on a local TV program dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles ("Studio 10") that was usually hosted by him and a colleague of his very own (Chasity Byrd)).

• WALA-TV, WPMI-TV, and WKRG-TV each had a remote broadcast about a past president of the United States (William (Bill) Clinton) visiting their local broadcast area shortly after the visit on their local news programs this past Wednesday on the thirteenth day of this July (the report for WALA-TV was from the interior of a house visited by him during the visit; the report for WPMI-TV was from the airport where the airplane used to bring him to the area landed (Brookley Field in Mobile); the report from WKRG-TV was from an unidentified location in the city where the house was located (Daphne in southwest Alabama)).

• One of the news presenters on the local news program WKRG-TV had in their programming between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. this Thursday (Jessica Taloney on "WKRG News 5 This Morning") had called one of the news reports for the program the "strange story of the day" (it was about a person suspected of pretending to be an legitimate constable in southwest Alabama) whereas the other news presenter (Bill Riales) had imitated the voice of the past president of the United States mentioned in the paragraph above this one after presenting a report about his visit to their local broadcast area this past Wednesday. 

News for Wednesday, July 13th, 2016

• According to the guides to the main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV from TitanTV and Zap2it, they were set to have a special local program take the place of two-thirds of a special network program expected to come from their main provider of network programming (the National Broadcasting Company (NBC)) this Saturday on the sixteenth day of this July between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.* 

• One of the news presenters on the local morning news program for WPMI-TV (Kelly Jones of "Local 15 Today") had encouraged the other news presenter (Darwin Singleton) to refer to a person she had wished a happy birthday during a part of the program for acknowledging birthdays of residents in their local broadcast area to call the person by the nickname "Biscuit" this Wednesday (he did so afterwards as part of his birthday wish to the person (this caused the news presenter named Kelly Jones to act very excited)).  

• One of the local news programs for WALA-TV this past Tuesday on the twelfth day of this July ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m.") had one of the weather reporters for their local news operation (Jason Smith) presenting video of a person he said was his "dad" trying to capture tarpons with him (another one of the weather reporters for the operation (Matt Barrentine) had identified the person by name ("Tim Smith") while presenting the video on another local news program of theirs ("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") later that day (he also said the video was for a series of reports for their local news operation named "FOX 10 Outdoors")).

 (update: the call letters "WALA-TV" and the phrase "another report about the game" in the first paragraph of this report were linked to the first and second  (respective) reports for WALA-TV referenced in the paragraph; a corrected version of one of the names for one of the news reporters for the local news operation at WALA-TV was put in place of a misspelled version that was posted by mistake earlier) 

• WALA-TV and WKRG-TV each had a report about folks in Mobile playing a new video game named "Pokemon GO" on at least one of their news programs since this past Monday on the eleventh day of this July (note: according to the official Facebook page for one of the news reporters for the local news operation at WALA-TV (Rebekah Hoeger), they were set to have another report about the game and some of its players in Mobile in their programming later this Tuesday). 

• The main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV had an advertisement for WKSJ-FM about a syndicated radio program ("The Bobby Bones Show") that was added to their regular programming plan for Monday through Friday last Monday on the fourth day of this July and two of their radio announcers (Dan Brennan and Shelby Mitchell) having a new shift in their regular programming plan for Monday through Friday in order to accommodate the syndicated program during one of its breaks for commercial and promotional advertisements.

• The news presenters on the local news program WKRG-TV had in their programming between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. (Bill Riales and Chad Petri) this Tuesday were speculating about the word "Hillary" in a report the program had about ten "stop" signs in the county of Baldwin in southwest Alabama being vandalized with that word (the one named Bill Riales seemed to guess the word was used to in connection to a candidate for the presidency of the United States since, as he put it, "There happened to be a candidate named 'Hillary' running for president' before guessing the name was used in reference to an "ex-wife" or "soon-to-be ex-wife" and concluding that both he and the news presenter named Chad Petri could not make a direct connection or correlation to either one of those guesses). 

Commentary: Vulgar compliments about physical appearances, emotional words, and an unnecessary TV news program

• I wish some folks would not use the official Facebook pages for some of the local TV stations in southwest Alabama to post vulgar compliments about the physical appearances of news presenters and news reporters for the stations represented by those pages (for example, compliments in which the words "fine" and/or "hot" were used in describe the presenters and/or reporters in sexual ways). 

• I wish news presenters and news reporters in broadcasting (or any other medium) would not use words like "crazy" and "wild" to describe certain news reports or video while on their jobs (they should not be expressing what may or may not be their own personal feelings about news while on their jobs at all); They would be more professional and taken more seriously by viewers and/or listeners of their news programs by not doing so.

• I wish the folks in charge of WFNA-TV would reconsider having a local TV news program of their own on a daily basis from Monday through Friday (especially one made by a different station (WKRG-TV); even though they have the same owners and the same studio for their news programs); their broadcast area has enough local TV news programs all ready, and not just the ones usually broadcast in the same time period normally used for their news program (9:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.).

News for Sunday, July 10th, 2016

• One of the news reporters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Pat Peterson) said they had images of dead goats deemed "too disgusting for television" while narrating a report about them that was part of a local news program of theirs this past Wednesday on the sixth day of this July between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. ("WKRG News 5 at 6"). 

• WKRG-TV had a report in which the last name of one of the persons shown in the report (a sportsman named Paige Madden) was not said by its narrator (a sports reporter named Randy Patrick Setterstrom) that was part of at least one of their local news programs this past Wednesday (it was on the news program they had on their main broadcast channel between 10:00 p.m. and 10:35 p.m. ("WKRG News 5 at 6")). 

• One of the news presenters and news reporters for the local news operation at WPMI-TV (Darwin Singleton) referred to a former member of the Senate of the United States (Robert Kennedy) and a former president of the United States (John Kennedy) only by nicknames commonly used in reference to them by other folks ("Bobby Kennedy" and "Jack Kennedy" respectively) while presenting a report about them on their local midday news program ("Local 15 News at Noon") this past Friday on the eighth day of this July.

News for Saturday, July 9th, 2016

• Some video of various rooms from the interior of the broadcast facility for WALA-TV in Mobile (including the studio for their local news programs and the control room for their programming) was streamed onto their official Facebook page shortly before one of their local news programs ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") was broadcast this past Friday on the eighth day of this July. 

• The main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV did not have live network programming about a race of motorcycles (the "Southwick National") from their main provider of network programming (the National Broadcasting Company (NBC)) this Saturday between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. (it had recordings of two network programs from a special programming block dedicated to educational and informative programs directed toward folks between the ages of 3 and 5 (NBC Kids) from the same provider instead ("Nina's World" and "Ruff-Ruff, Tweet & Dave"*)).

• Last Friday on the first day of this July, a local TV program about entertainment and lifestyles ("Studio 10" for WALA-TV) had a guest that one of its hosts (Chasity Byrd) said had a "very special talent" that she thought was a great way to celebrate the anniversary of the day a document named "The Declaration of Independence" was adopted by members of an early form of government in North America (the Tuesday on the fourth day of July in the year 1776) without any explanation as to how they discovered her and her talent (according to the host named Chasity Byrd after the program that day, the guest was asked to visit the program upon their receiving video of her saying "The Pledge of Allegiance").  

 (*two other programs from the same programming block ("Terrific Trucks" and "Floogals") preceded those programs between 1:30 p.m and 2:30 p.m.) 

News for Friday, July 8th, 2016

• WALA-TV had special news programming (with a news reporter of theirs named Lee Peck in the role of news presenter) take precedence over regular programming (unrelated to news) on their main broadcast channel between 12:00 a.m. and 12:05 a.m. (it was about a series of shootings in the city of Dallas in the state of Texas).    

• WPMI-TV had one of their local news programs ("Local 15 News at 10 p.m.) begin and end a few minutes later than usual due to some special network programming from their main provider of network programming (the National Broadcasting Company (NBC)) ending after its regular start time (10:00 p.m. was the regular start time for the news program).  

• One of the local radio announcers for WAVH-FM (Sean Sullivan) talked about what some listeners of some of their local radio programs were discussing on those programs this past Thursday on the seventh day of this July (he was asked specifically about what they were saying about recent shootings involving police officers in the city of Baton Rouge in the state of Louisiana and the city of Falcon Heights in the state of Minnesota).

• WALA-TV had video of a live news conference with the mayor of Mobile (William Sandys (Sandy) Stimpson) in the last segment of the most recent edition of a local TV program of theirs dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles ("Studio 10") (even though some microphones for WKRG-TV and WPMI-TV were visible at the news conference, they did not have video of the news conference in their programming feeds as it was happening).*

News for Thursday, July 7th, 2016

• An administrator for the official Facebook page for WKRG-TV posted an advertisement there for restaurant operators who may be interested in promoting their restaurants on a regular feature of a local news program for WKRG-TV ("Take 5" on "WKRG News 5 at Noon").*

• Some of the breaks for commercial and promotional advertisements on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV had an advertisement for residents of their broadcast area within an certain age group (the advertisement had "kindergarten to 5th grade" instead of an actual age group) who may be interested in presenting weather reports for one of their local news programs ("FOX 10 News in the Morning" to be precise). 

• Some members of the local news operation for WALA-TV (a news reporter named Candace Murphy and a news presenter named Lenise Ligon) did not give all of the tips from the list of tips for surviving lightning they had on display in the local news programming they had this past Wednesday on the sixth day of this July immediately after a report they had a report about a person surviving three lightning strikes. 

• The main broadcast channel for WALA-TV had programming segments (sponsored by them and Pepsi) about some of the history of a battleship in Mobile Bay named the United States Ship Alabama, some of the history of Carnival celebrations in Mobile, and some of the history of a house where a former professional baseball player from Mobile named Henry (Hank) Aaron lived during some of its breaks for commercial and promotional advertisements in its programming on this day and this past Wednesday on the sixth day of this July (the announcer in the segments used a slogan for Pepsi to describe the ship, the celebrations. and the house ("a southern original")).

News for Wednesday, July 6th, 2016

• This past Tuesday on the fifth day of this July, WPMI-TV had a report in their local news programming about a "production crew" for a national TV program ("The First 48" for the Arts & Entertainment (A&E) Network) "shadowing" members of the department of police for the city of Mobile who were trying to understand how a certain resident of Mobile died recently. 

• WKRG-TV had three news reports involving WAVH-FM in the local news programming this past Tuesday (one involved listeners of a radio program of theirs named "Midday Mobile" reacting to news about a candidate for the presidency of the United States (Hillary Clinton); one involved a guest of another local radio program of theirs ("Armed Alabama") also reacting to news about the candidate; one involved their having a sale of T-shirts to help fund the department of police for the Mobile and the office of the sheriff of the county where the city was located (Mobile County)).   

• One of the news presenters for the local news program WKRG-TV usually had on their main broadcast channel between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. from Monday through Friday in recent times (Bill Riales on "WKRG News 5 This Morning") said the program was being simulcast on the main broadcast channel for their companion station (WFNA-TV) while conversing with the other news presenter for the program (Jessica Taloney) and its weather reporter (John Nodar) on the program this Wednesday in spite of the channel being set to have a different program (a syndicated news program named "TMZ Live") at the time in accordance with its regular programming plan for Monday through Friday. 

News for Tuesday, July 5th, 2016

• WALA-TV had a news report with a member of their local news operation (Matt Barrentine) saying, "Google it" (a phrase commonly used in reference to utilizing a tool for searching parts of the Internet) after using the words "fruit" and "vegetable" to reference to watermelons in their local news programming this past Monday on the fourth day of this July. 

• WKRG-TV had a different type of sound effect and graphic (a yellow traffic light) for a type of traffic report that was usually part of their local news program for the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on a daily basis since this past June (the name of the report was "Bayway Report"; the name of the program was "WKRG News 5 This Morning") instead of the type of sound effect and graphic (a green traffic light) they usually had for such a report since then this Tuesday (one of the news presenters for the program (Jessica Taloney) said, "There's the new noise" as the sound effect was broadcast before saying it sounded like a train and jokingly saying, "There's a train on the Causeway").*

• One of the presenters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (a sports presenter named Randy Patrick Setterstrom to be precise) spoke as if he had no idea why he did a report about an eating competition that occurred on Coney Island in the state of New York this past Monday while part of the local news programming they had later that day (he was responding to a news presenter for the programming they had between 10:00 p.m. and 10:35 p.m. (Peter Albrecht** on "WKRG News 5 at 10") asking about whether the winner of the competition (a person named Joey Chestnut) was an athlete or not and whether the contest itself was a sport or not when he said, "I don't know why it's in the sportscast, but they claim it's a sport. I guess I'll go with that and they think it's like the seventh game of the World Series, the NBA Finals, the Super Bowl, the Masters--the all rolled up in one bun".

News for Monday, July 4th, 2016

• The main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV had an advertisement for their local news program for the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. ("Local 15 Today") with only one of its regular news presenters mentioned, as if he were the only news presenter for the program (the name of the one mentioned was Darwin Singleton; the name of the one not mentioned was Kelly Jones).  

• WKRG-TV had reports about the outcome of an eating competition that occurred on Coney Island in the state of New York earlier this Monday on their local midday news program ("WKRG News 5 at Noon") and their official Facebook page before a special TV program about it and another one like it was broadcast later this Monday by a national cable TV and satellite TV programming service named the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN).*

(*all of the contestants for the first competition were female whereas all of the contestants for the second competition were male) 

News for Sunday, July 3rd, 2016

• WALA-TV had videos of various persons outside their broadcast facility expressing what may or may not have their own personal feelings about next Monday on the fourth day of this July being the anniversary of the day a document named "The Declaration of Independence" was adopted by members of an early form of government in North America (the Thursday on the fourth day of July in the year 1776) appear on their local news program for Sunday evenings ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m") this Sunday.

• One of the news presenters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Ashley Knight) had referred to a TV station in the city of Houston in the state of Texas as a "sister station" of theirs (KHOU-TV) while presenting a report she had attributed to that station on one of the local news programs for their own station this past Saturday on the second day of this July between 10:00 p.m. and 10:35 p.m. ("WKRG News 5 at 10"); even though that phrase was normally used in reference to other TV stations with the same owners as theirs by then (WKRG-TV was owned by Media General while KHOU-TV was owned by TEGNA Media).*

• One of the news reporters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Ashley Knight) said "Channel 5" instead of "News 5" in reference to the operation while ending a live news report for their local midday news program ("WKRG News 5 at Noon") this past Friday on the first day of this July. (she said, "Ashley Knight, Channel 5" rather than "Ashley Knight, News 5"). 

• One of the news reporters for the local news operation at WALA-TV who usually only presented news for their local evening news programs occasionally (Lee Peck) was the news presenter for their local news program for Saturday and Sunday mornings ("FOX 10 News in the Morning") this Saturday (he was welcomed to being so from the person who usually presented weather reports for the program (Matt Barrentine)). 

News for Friday, July 1st, 2016

• A new section was added to the official World Wide Web site for WKRG-TV for news reports that were part of a new local news program for their companion station ("CW55 News at 9" for WFNA-TV). 

• WKRG-TV had a report about a person that its narrator (a sports reporter named Randy Patrick Setterstrom) said was a person that he knew personally while narrating it in their local news programming this past Thursday on the thirtieth day of this past June. 

• One of the radio announcers for WKSJ-FM (Shelby Mitchell) had used a type of programming segment for WKRG-TV that she and another one of their radio announcers (Dan Brennan) had usually hosted on a weekly basis ("The Weekend Buzz" for "WKRG News 5 This Morning") to celebrate their plan to have a new regular programming shift at WKSJ-FM that was set to take affect next Monday on the fourth day of this July.
