News for Tuesday, December 6th, 2016

  • The format for the first edition of the new local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the second half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. this past Monday on the fifth day of this December ("WKRG News 5 at 6:30") differed from that of their local news program for the first half of that hour that day ("WKRG News 5 at 6:00") by having one of the regular news presenters for Monday through Friday editions of their local news program for the first half of the hour of 5:00 p.m. (Peter Albrecht of "WKRG News 5 at 5") paired with one of the news presenters for Monday through Friday editions of the program for the first half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. (Rose Ann Haven) and by having him initially present news reports alone while standing in the studio for all of their local news programs (a digital list of names for the reports he presented was superimposed beside him as he presented them (this was the same way reports were usually presented on their local news program for the first half of the hour of 9:00 a.m. for Monday through Friday ("WKRG News 5 at 9") in recent times).
    • One of the breaks for the new local news program mentioned in the previous paragraph had a promotional video with audio of a professional announcer (Jeff Davis) saying, "Looking for 'The Andy Griffith Show'? Don't worry!" before saying where residents of the local broadcast area for the video could still find local broadcasts of the aforementioned "show" (he made reference to the main broadcast channel for the companion station of WKRG-TV (WFNA-TV, even though he called it by its brand name ("the CW55")) and the time period in which the "show" was to be part of its programming from Monday through Friday (the second half of the hour of 9:00 p.m.)) since it was no longer set to appear on the channel with the new local news program from Monday through Friday by this past Monday (a list of cable TV and satellite TV channels for the main programming feed for WFNA-TV appeared throughout the entire video while a blurry version of the opening sequence for "The Andy Griffith Show" appeared behind it (the music for the sequence played throughout the video also)).*
(*WKRG-TV and WFNA-TV were members of the same company (Media General) with the same broadcast studio)

News for Monday, December 5th, 2016

    • Earlier this Monday, the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV did not have a new edition of a national news program that was usually part of its programming during the second half of the hour of 4:00 a.m. from Monday through Friday in recent times ("The CBS Morning News" from the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS)*) during the first half of that hour in accordance with the guides to its programming from Zap2it and TitanTV (the channel still had the program that usually preceded it on the channel in recent times: "The CBS Overnight News" (it was from CBS also)).
    • The main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV had a "preview" of reports planned for the edition of the local news program that was part of its programming between the beginning of the second half of the hour of 4:00 a.m. and the beginning of the hour of 7:00 a.m. ("WKRG News 5 This Morning") in place of the last segment of the national news program that preceded it this Monday ("The CBS Overnight News").
    • Only one of the news presenters for the local news program mentioned in the previous paragraph was part of the segments of it broadcast during the second half of the hour of 4:00 a.m. this Monday (the name of the news presenter who appeared in those segments was Bill Riales; as for the name of the one who did not appear in those segments, it was Jessica Taloney (she appeared in other segments of its edition for this Monday, though)).
(*CBS was the main provider of network programming for WKRG-TV)

    • The audio for the programming feed on one of the digital sub-channels for WKRG-TV was silenced by audio of a report of severe weather in their local broadcast area attributed to the National Weather Service while graphics related to the report (white text) appeared over the video for its programming feed (they appeared over the top-half of the video) whereas the audio for the programming feed on their main broadcast channel was still audible while different graphics related to the report (such as a map of the area where the severe weather was reportedly located and a ticker with text scrolling from right to left) appeared over the video for its own programming feed (they appeared near the bottom of the video).*
(*the sub-channel usually had programs from a national TV programming service named Memorable Entertainment Television (it also had the nickname Me-TV))

    • The live video stream for WALA-TV had some video from around a building with the name "Premiere Cinemas" located in the city of Spanish Fort in southwest Alabama instead of their local news program for Saturday and Sunday mornings during its broadcast for this Saturday (two news reporters of theirs (Hal Scheurich and Alexa Knowles) appeared in the video along with video of the interior of an automobile).
(*the reporter named Alexa Knowles appeared to be doing live reports for the program at certain points of the video)

    • One of the news presenters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Bill Riales) had interviewed a news reporter for their companion station (Katrice Nolan for WFNA-TV) about a plan to hold auditions for someone to promote the broadcast operation of the companion station this Saturday on the third day of this December in the city of Foley in southwest Alabama (she said this while describing the type of person wanted for the position of promoting the broadcast operation of the station: "We are looking for the next 'CW55 Star' and it means just that: the star. Just someone to be able to learn what we do here at News 5 (the brand name for the local news operation at WKRG-TV) and be able to write their own stories, shoot their own stories, edit their own stories, and of course give us their personality").**
