- The programming feed for WXQW-AM had a promotional announcement (by a professional announcer named Jim Cutler) about their broadcast operation being "Mobile's new home" for news and talk programming this Friday nearly fourteen months after their broadcast frequency was set to have such programming on a regular basis (back in October 2015).*
- One of the news presenters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Bill Riales) had interviewed a news reporter for their companion station (Katrice Nolan for WFNA-TV) about a plan to hold auditions for someone to promote the broadcast operation of the companion station this Saturday on the third day of this December in the city of Foley in southwest Alabama (she said this while describing the type of person wanted for the position of promoting the broadcast operation of the station: "We are looking for the next 'CW55 Star' and it means just that: the star. Just someone to be able to learn what we do here at News 5 (the brand name for the local news operation at WKRG-TV) and be able to write their own stories, shoot their own stories, edit their own stories, and of course give us their personality").**
(*their broadcast frequency was initially set to have such programming on a regular basis from Monday through Sunday before being to set to have it from only Monday through Friday before switching to the programming feed for WGOK-AM (one of their companion stations) from Saturday through Sunday this past January)
(**the interview was part of a local news program that appeared that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during a break in its presentation of a national news program from their main provider of network programming (
"CBS This Morning" from the Columbia Broadcasting System (
CBS))
