Conversations in Broadcasting #24

The last two minutes of the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Thursday of the eleventh day of this July ("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") appeared to have had this discussion between its news presenters (Lenise Ligon and Byron Day) and one of its reporters (a weather reporter named Jason Smith):

Lenise Ligon: Aw, wow, it was a--it was a hard afternoon, um,  Alexa Knowles is saying good bye (note: the program appeared to have had certain graphic involving an certain image and some text of "GOOD-BYE, ALEXA!" by this point).

Byron Day: Yeah, she certainly is, and we wish her the very best -- and in a very short amount of time; just three years--

Lenise Ligon: Yeah.

Byron Day: -- she became one of the most respected journalists along the gulf coast--

Lenise Ligon: Mm-hmm.

Byron Day: -- and all of us here--

Lenise Ligon: In the community, too --

Byron Day: Boy, yes, absolutely. Very involved.

Lenise Ligon: -- very involved in her church.

Byron Day: -- but, um, all of us here at FOX 10 are going to miss her.

Jason Smith: That's right and, uh, as we head on to our forecast, one last look at it here: on Friday, isolated showers for tomorrow. We'll see widely scattered activity on Saturday, a little bit of a better chance on Sunday. Heat and humidity.

Lenise Ligon: Heh, heh -- thank you--

Byron Day: Our favorites.

Lenise Ligon: -- Jason. Aw, man.

Byron Day: See you tomorrow.

Lenise Ligon: Bye.
