  • The main broadcast channel for WJTC-TV was set to have special programming (from the American Sports Network*) about a live basketball game involving a collegiate basketball team from the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama (the male basketball team of the University of South Alabama) and the city itself this past Monday on the thirtieth day of this January (during the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.).  
(*WJTC-TV and the American Sports Network were related to each other due to their being members of the same company (the Sinclair Broadcast Group))

  • The main broadcast channel for WJTC-TV had a paid commercial program (or "infomercial") that appeared as if it had been stretched horizontally as part of its programming this morning (between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.). 
  • The main broadcast channel for WFNA-TV was set to have special programming from one of its regular providers of syndicated programming (the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN)) in a time period when it was usually set to have other types of programming from other providers of syndicated programming on a daily basis in recent times this Sunday (between the beginning of the hour of 12:00 p.m. and the beginning of the hour of 3:00 p.m).

  • Some of the local news programs for WKRG-TV that appeared on their main broadcast channel during this calendar week usually had an announcement about a law firm in the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama (named Greene & Phillips) sponsoring "aerial footage" for them during the last few seconds of their broadcasts, usually before an animated sequence for their holding (or "parent") company (Nexstar Media Group).  
  • The news presenter for the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during this morning (Alexa Knowles of "FOX 10 News in the Morning" during the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.) used part of its broadcast to say they would have "live team coverage" of Carnival parades expected to occur in the counties of Mobile and Baldwin in southwest Alabama on the Tuesday of the thirty-first day of this February.  
  • One of the local news programs for WKRG-TV that appeared on their main broadcast channel this past Friday on the twenty-seventh day of this January had video of a radio announcer from their broadcast area (Mike Romano of WNGL-AM) speaking to a member of their local news operation (Cassie Fambro) without any mention of his name or the name of the station whereas their official World Wide Web sit had a written version of what he said* and the broadcast frequency of the station (1410 kilocycles).

  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the second half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. this past Thursday on the twenty-sixth day of this January ("WKRG News 5 at 6:30") had video of a member of their local news operation (Ashley Knight) suggesting that listeners of her report for the video who "haven't heard" of a resident of Mobile whom she called "Mobile's famed renaissance man" to do their selves "a favor" and "look him up". 
  • The first segment of the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. this past Thursday ("WKRG News 5 at 10") began with audio of one of its news presenters (Rose Ann Haven) "breaking news" while an animated sequence normally used for "breaking news" in their programming in recent time appeared instead of a "preview" of reports planned for its broadcast (its broadcasts usually began with such previews in recent times before then).

  • A new monthly fee for customers of the cable TV system operated by Comcast Cablevision of Mobile was implemented last December (a "regional sports fee" ($3.00)).*
  • According to a statement sent to customers of the cable TV system mentioned in the previous paragraph, the Tuesday of the fourteenth day of this March would be the last day the system would have programming from a national cable TV and satellite TV programming service named Esquire.
  • One of the news presenters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Rose Ann Haven) said they would have a video named "Wheel of Fugitives" in their programming "every week" while presenting a report about such a video on a recent edition of one of their local news programs ("WKRG News 5 at 10 [p.m.]"). 
 (*the statement mentioned in the second paragraph of this report had this sentence about the fee: "Regional Sports Fee recovers a portion of the costs to transmit certain regional sports networks." (it was similar to its sentence about another fee for customers of the system ("the Broadcast TV fee [$5.00] recovers a portion of the costs of retransmitting television broadcast signals."))

  • A video with an animated sequence normally used to end new editions of local news programs for WKRG-TV since the previous calendar week was uploaded onto a World Wide Web site specialized in audio and video recordings named YouTube between then and this Wednesday.   
  • The news presenter for the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 5:00 p.m. on the Tuesday of the twenty-seventh day of this past December (Renee Dials on "FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m.") had used the phrase, "Two thousand sixteen takes the life of" while introducing a video of a report about a famous actor said to had died earlier that day (named Carrie Fisher) as part of its broadcast that day.  
  • The local news programs that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on the Tuesday of the twentieth day of this past December ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m." and "FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") had a report with a member of their local news operation (a weather reporter of theirs named Jason Smith) saying two projects of their news operation were "teaming up" to offer a person a chance to capture fish as part of a guided tour (the names of the projects were "Jason Smith Outdoors" and "The FOX 10 Surprise Squad").

  • One of the hosts of a local TV program dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles (Joe Emer of "Studio 10") talked about their station (WALA-TV) having a new automation system (called Ignite) and "everybody" there "getting used to it" and "trying to make it work" (he said it had "glitches") while hosting the edition of the program that appeared on their main broadcast channel this past Monday on the twenty-fourth day of this January. 
  • A hyperlink to a World Wide Web site about a TV station located outside of southwest Alabama (in the city of Ocean Springs in the state of Mississippi) that usually provided programming to at least one of its cable TV systems in recent times (the one in the city in Foley for a company named Riviera Utilities) was added to the list of hyperlinks on this weblog (the name of the station was WXVO-LD (it used to be called WKFK-LP and WKFK-LD)).

  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. this past Sunday on the twenty-second day of this January ("WKRG News 5 at 10") had a report about a resident of their local broadcast area appearing on a TV program from their main provider network programming ("Hunted") as part of their programming feed for the channel that evening. 
  • One of the news presenters for the local news operation at WPMI-TV (Darwin Singleton) had referred to a member of its staff he said was its "newest member" (Ethel Zora Asberry) while introducing her on one of their local news programs they had on their main broadcast channel back on the Tuesday of the tenth day of this January ("Local 15 News at Noon") as their "breaking news reporter" (a title not normally used for members of their local news operation) while introducing her on one of the programs they had on the channel this Monday ("Local 15 Today" during the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.).

  • The brand name of a local news program that usually appeared on the main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV from Monday through Friday mornings in recent times ("Local 15 Today") was used for a special news program it had about stormy weather in their local broadcast area this Saturday (the channel was usually set to have other types of programming during the time period of this special program (between the last two minutes of the hour of 4:00 a.m. and the beginning of the hour of 9:00 a.m.) on recent Saturdays (it was usually set to have paid, syndicated, and network programming during this time period in recent times*)
  • The local news program for WPMI-TV mentioned in the previous paragraph had what appeared to be weather programming from a TV station outside of their local broadcast area (WDAM-TV in the city of Moselle in the state of Mississippi).

  • Construction on one of the roads of the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama caused one of the cables used by Comcast Cablevision of Mobile (for providing cable TV, Internet, and telephone services) to be disconnected from the home of the author of this weblog this past Thursday on the nineteenth day of this January (it was repaired afterwards this Friday).
  • The main broadcast channel and Internet video stream for WALA-TV did not have a regular conclusion to a local TV program dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles that was usually part of their programming from Monday through Friday in recent times ("Studio 10") back on the Thursday of the twelfth day of this January (they had instrumental music normally used in their presentations of it instead of any farewells like previous presentations of it*).

    • A video of what appeared to be a control room for the local news operation at WKRG-TV while one of their local news programs ("WKRG News 5 at 6") was being broadcast was uploaded onto a Facebook page attributed to a member of the operation in charge of directing it (Bailey Braseth) by this past Wednesday.

    • A news release about a company named Nexstar Media Group merging with the holding (or "parent") company of WKRG-TV and WFNA-TV (Media General) this past Tuesday on the seventeenth day of this January was available on the official World Wide Web site for the one named Nexstar Media Group by this Wednesday.
    • An animated sequence for the company stated to had merged with the holding company for WKRG-TV and WFNA-TV in the previous paragraph appeared at the end of the last segment of the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the second half of the hour of 4:00 a.m. and the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. this Wednesday ("WKRG News 5 This Morning").  
    • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV on the evening of this past Sunday on the fifteenth day of this January ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m." between 9:13 p.m. and 10:13 p.m.) had a report about their local news operation being honored by a organization named People United to Advance the Dream, Mobile, Inc." and a member of the operation (a news presenter named Bob Grip) accepting the honor on its behalf.

    • One of the news presenters for the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV during the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. this past Monday on the sixteenth day of this January (Darwin Singleton of "Local 15 Today") said their "sister station" (WJTC-TV)* would have "coverage" of (Carnival) parades expected to occur in their local broadcast areas between then and the Tuesday of the twenty-eighth day of this February. 
    • One of the hosts of a local TV program dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles (Chasity Byrd of "Studio 10" for WALA-TV) had used one of the segments in its broadcast this past Monday to talk about how both she and a deceased relative of hers (her "stepdad") were honored by a Carnival organization based in the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama named "The Mystic Stripers" (she said the "stepdad" loved the organization and said she was honored to be their "queen" for this calendar year in honor of him and the love he had for their organization).  
    • The last segment of the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV during the first half of the hour of 12:00 p.m. this Tuesday ended with video of its news presenter (Darwin Singleton) and weather reporter (Kelly Foster) appearing to speak to each other (their voices were not audible) while two guests of theirs (a couple of radio announcers for WRGV-FM ("1-0-7-3 KISS FM") named Matt McCoy and Greg Hill ("Gossip Greg")**) appeared to meander around the set of the program as thematic music for the program played (the one named Matt McCoy appeared to be wiping the back of the head the news presenter near the end of the segment).

    • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 12:00 p.m. this Monday had its news presenter (Devon Walsh of "WKRG News 5 at Noon") using the words "dinosaur-size", "massive", and "Godzilla-like" to describe a crocodile while video of it was being shown (she called it an "alligator", though).   
    • The guides to one of the cable TV channels in the cable TV system operated by Comcast Cablevision of Mobile sent to cable TV receivers connected to the system and one of the official World Wide Web sites for the system and other systems like it (specifically the ones under the name "Comcast") started having listings for a programming feed from Alabama Public Television that used to appear on the channel until last Tuesday on the tenth day of this January (it has been replaced by a different programming feed from Alabama Public Television*).
    • The last segment of the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the second half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. this Monday ("WKRG News 5 at 6:30") was unlike the last segments of recent editions of their other local news programs in recent times (it ended with a news report recorded on video about a form of exercise named "goat yoga" rather than video of at least one of its news presenters either wishing members of their audience farewell, promoting the next local news program set to appear on their main broadcast channel, or both).

    • The main broadcast channel for WALA-TV had the same theatrical movie ("2012") that was part of its programming last Sunday on the eighth day of this January (during the hours of 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 12:00 p.m.) 24 hours after it was part of the programming of the one for WFNA-TV this past Saturday on the fourteenth day of this January (during the hours of 12:00 p.m, 1:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m.).**
    • The news presenter for the local news program that usually appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the hour of 5:00 a.m. on Saturdays in recent times (Chad Petri on "WKRG News 5 This Morning: Saturday") said one of the features of the edition of the program that appeared on the channel on the Saturday of the thirty-first day of last December (it was named "Remember This?") was in honor of a recent video game for computerized telephones and tablet computers ("Super Mario Run") while introducing it as part of that edition (it was a profile of a TV program based on the main character for the game (Mario Mario) named "The Super Mario Bros.     • One of the weather reporters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Melissa Constanzer) said she was "wrong" about Mobile having a "record" high temperature this past Friday on the thirteenth day of this January while presenting a weather report on the local news program that appeared on their main broadcast channel during the hour of 5:00 a.m. this Saturday ("WKRG News 5 This Morning: Saturday"). 
    • One of the digital sub-channels for the Alabama Public Television station licensed to serve Mobile (WEIQ-TV) started having programming for a new TV programming service named PBS Kids sometime between this past Friday and this Saturday (it usually had a message about it having such programming for the first time next Monday on the sixteenth day of this January; as for its radio frequency and virtual channel numbers, they were 41-2 and 42-2 respectively).

    • The main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV recently had a promotional video for their local news program for the second half of the hour of 4:00 a.m. and the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. for Monday through Friday ("WKRG News 5 This Morning") with audio of the one of the news presenters for the program (Bill Riales) talking about a person he called "Jim" having a resolution for this calendar year to "wake up early every morning to exercise" as video of the person (with what appeared to be perspiration on his face) using a treadmill appeared before saying, "Lucky for Jim, 'News 5 This Morning' comes on every morning at 4:30*' " and, "We've got you covered, Jim".  
    • The promotional video for WKRG-TV mentioned in the previous paragraph usually appeared on their main broadcast channel with another one involving a professional announcer (Jeff Davis) posing a question for members of its audience about whether they can be home to watch their local news program for the first half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. ("WKRG News 5 at 6") from Monday through Friday or not before promoting the one for other half of that hour ("WKRG News 5 at 6:30"**) with descriptions of its presenters and a slogan ("More news, more convenience. That's coverage you can count on").

    • The weather reporter and news presenter for the local news operation at WPMI-TV who usually co-hosted a local entertainment and lifestyle program of theirs since it became part of their programming (and that of their companion station (WJTC-TV)) last September (Kelly Foster for "Gulf Coast Today") was not part of its broadcasts this past Monday and Tuesday (the ninth and tenth days of this January) in addition to this Thursday while other members of their local news operation were place of her (including a news reporter of theirs named Katie Herrera for its broadcasts this past Monday and Tuesday and a weather reporter of theirs named Jake Dunne this Thursday).
    • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 5:00 p.m. this Thursday had a poster with a logo of theirs not normally used in their programming (it was similar to the one for a software application of theirs named the "FOX10 FloatTracker", except it had the names "Mobile" and "Pensacola" underneath the name "FOX10") behind one of the weather reporters for their local news operation (Jason Smith) as he was doing weather reports from the interior of a restaurant in the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama (the poster was about a plan to hold a cooking competition in Mobile under the name "Downtown Cajun Cook-off" (WALA-TV was one of the sponsors of this plan)).  
    • The main broadcast channel for WALA-TV had less local news programming for the hour of 9:00 p.m. and the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. this past Tuesday on the tenth day of this January than on previous Tuesdays in recent times after having special programming (including a program about a live speech by the president of the United States (Barack Obama) and an episode of a dramatic TV program named "Bones") from their provider of network programming (the FOX Broadcasting Company) for much of the hour of 9:00 p.m. (the channel usually did not have programming from the service during the hour of 9:00 p.m.; as for when it had the local news programming, it was between 9:54 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.)).

    • The news presenter for the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV during the first half of the hour of 12:00 p.m. this Tuesday (Darwin Singleton on "Local 15 News at Noon") said one of its other contributors was the "newest member" of the "staff" for their local news operation while introducing her on the program (this is how she was introduced: "The newest member of the Local 15 News staff Zora Asberry joins us live in the studio with the latest on the hearing. Zora." (a recording of the part of the program with the introduction was uploaded onto the official World Wide Web site for WPMI-TV)). 
    • One of the programming feeds for the Alabama Public Television station licensed to serve the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama set to simulcast a live programming feed for a TV programming service named WORLD on a regular basis until sometime between the Sunday of the first day of this January and the Wednesday of the fourth day of this January was displaced in the cable TV system operated by Comcast Cablevision of Mobile by the one that was still set to have this feed on a regular basis this Tuesday (the feed that was displaced had a message about a different TV programming feed expected to take the place of the one for WORLD (under the name "PBS KIDS") in its operation next Monday on the sixteenth day of this January; as for the name of the station that had the feed , it was WEIQ-TV).

    • According to the guides to the main broadcast channel for WJTC-TV from Zap2it, TitanTV, and TV Guide, the theatrical movie that appeared on the channel between the beginning of the second half of the hour of 2:00 a.m. and the beginning of the hour of 5:00 a.m. this Monday was set to appear on the channel again next Monday on the sixteenth day of this January during the same time period (the name of the movie was "Star Trek: The Motion Picture").  
    • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the second half of the hour of 4:00 a.m. and the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. ("WKRG News 5 This Morning") this Monday had video of a former radio announcer and director of programming for a former group of radio stations based in Mobile (Barry Silverman* of WABB-AM and WABB-FM) supplement some of its news presentations (the presentations were about a festival in Mobile named "The Mobile Jewish Film Festival").  
    • The sports reporter for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Randy Patrick Setterstrom) referred to their local news program for the second half of the hour of 4:00 a.m. and the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. for Monday through Friday by one of its former brand names ("Morning NewsCenter 5") while doing a live report from the city of Tampa in the state of Florida about a plan to hold a football game between the football teams for the University of Alabama and Clemson University on their local news program for the second half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. ("WKRG News 5 at 6:30") this Monday.

    News for Sunday, January 8th, 2017

    • The news presenter for the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. this Sunday (Rebekah Hoeger on "FOX 10 News in the Morning") used the first segment of its broadcast for the hour of 6:00 a.m. to tell its audience they were watching "their only local news at 6 a.m." in spite of the main broadcast channels for WKRG-TV and WEAR-TV having other local news programs ("WKRG News 5 This Morning: Sunday" and "3 in the Morning: Sunday") at the same time (she later said, "You're watching your most local news at 7 a.m." in the first segment of its broadcast for the hour of 7:00 a.m. while the channel for WKRG-TV still had the same news program that was part of its programming during the hour of 6:00 a.m.). 
    • Some of the presenters for some of the local TV programs that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV this calendar week (including local news programs of theirs and a program of theirs dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles ("Studio 10")) had used their respective programs to promote a plan for the channel to have a special program (under the name "History in the Making") about plans to hold a football game between the football teams for the University of Alabama and Clemson University next Monday on the ninth day of this January during part of a time period normally used for one of those programs in recent times ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m." for the hour 9:00 p.m. (the special program was set to appear on the channel in place of this one about seven minutes after the second half of the hour and end about seven minutes after the start of the next hour (the hour of 10:00 p.m.).*

    • One of the local weather reporters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Thomas Geboy) appeared to be doing live weather reports (specifically reports about frozen precipitation) from a part of southwest Alabama with a name similar to his own forename (Thomasville) for some of the local news programs that appeared on their main broadcast channel between the morning hours of this past Friday (on the sixth day of this January) and the morning hours of this Saturday (he later appeared to be doing weather reports on the set of their local news programs for the one that appeared on the channel during the first half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. for this Saturday).
    • The member of the local news operation at WPMI-TV who usually did weather reports for their local news programs for the morning and midday hours of Monday through Friday on a regular basis in recent times prior to this calendar week (Kelly Foster was the name of the member; "Local 15 Today" and "Local 15 News at Noon" were the names of the morning and midday news programs respectively)) was doing weather reports for the one that appeared on their main broadcast channel during the first half of the hour of 5:00 p.m. for this Saturday ("Local 15 News at 5 p.m.") instead of the member who usually did weather reports for the local news programming they had on Saturday and Sunday before this calendar week in recent times (Jake Dunne).

    News for Friday, January 6th, 2017 (amended)

    • The guides to the cable TV channel for the programming feed of the Alabama Public Television station licensed to the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama that used to have the live programming feed of a national TV programming service named WORLD on a regular basis prior to this calendar week in the cable TV system operated by Comcast Cablevision of Mobile still had listings for its programs (the name of the station was WEIQ-TV).
    • Some of the news presenters for the local news operation at WPMI-TV had used some of their local news programming for this Friday to promote a new dramatic TV program from their main provider of network programming that was expected to appear on their main broadcast channel on this Friday after their promotions for it (the name of the program was "Emerald City"; it for the name of its provider, it was the National Broadcasting Company (NBC)).*
    • Some of the local news programs that appeared on the main broadcast channels for WALA-TV and WKRG-TV since this past Thursday on the fifth day of this January had what appeared to had been live news reports** from the city of Tampa in the state of Florida involving members of their respective local news operations (one of the reports for the one at WKRG-TV even involved a former news reporter and news presenter for theirs (Avery Cotton of WFLA-TV in Tampa***)).
    (*at least one of the news presenters (Kelly Foster) said what may or may not had been her own personal comments about the program, such as the idea that it was "not for kids" and the idea that it was tampering upon a theatrical movie she was said was a "classic" (the theatrical movie originally released in the year 1939 named "The Wizard of Oz") as if it were based solely on the movie (both of them were based elements of a stories of stories written by a person named Lyman Frank (L. Frank) Baum (she did not mention those stories or explain what she meant by the idea the new TV program was "not for kids"))

    News for Thursday, January 5th, 2017

    • The member of the local news operation at WPMI-TV who was usually the weather reporter for their local news programs for Saturday and Sunday evenings in recent times (Jake Dunne) was the weather reporter for their morning and midday news programs for Monday through Friday ("Local 15 Today" and "Local 15 News at Noon") since this past Wednesday on the fourth day of this January while the one who was usually their weather reporter before then (Kelly Foster) was their news presenter instead.
    • The local news program that appeared on their main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. this past Wednesday ("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") had an abrupt break in its broadcast after one of its news presenters (Bob Grip) used one of its segments to tell its audience the battery in the microphone for its weather reporter (Jason Smith) had died and that they "would be right back [after the break]" (he also said the reason for the death was due to the weather reporter talking into the microphone so much). 

    News for Wednesday, January 4th, 2017

    • Some of the news presenters for the local new operation at WKRG-TV had used some of their local news programming since this past Tuesday on the third day of this January to present news of WAVH-FM having a sale of bracelets to help provide financial support to a policeman for the city of Saraland in southwest Alabama said to had been recovering from an injury on her job last December. 
    • A series of videos (five videos in total) about the city of Paris in the nation of France narrated by a member of the local news operation at WALA-TV (Bob Grip) dating back to the calendar year 1997 were uploaded onto a Facebook page and a YouTube channel attributed to him (note: as of this writing, the fourth part of the series is not on the Facebook page (the hyperlink "Facebook" would only take you to a still image and description of the fifth part of the series whereas the hyperlinks between the words "were" and "and" would take you to the other parts)).
    • The "new, permanent co-anchor" (or partner in news presentations) for the "anchor" who usually presented news reports alone for the local news program at WPMI-TV mentioned in an earlier report for this weblog ("News for Monday, January 2nd, 2017") was also the "anchor" of the editions of the local news program that usually appeared on their main broadcast channel during the hour of 12:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday in recent times ("Local 15 News at Noon"*) since this past Tuesday (her partner for the local news program mentioned in the earlier report (Darwin Singleton) was usually the only news presenter for that program and the one for the hour of 12:00 p.m. in recent times).

    • The local entertainment and lifestyle program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 a.m. this Tuesday ("Studio 10") had video of one of its hosts (Chasity Byrd) being honored on her birthday this past Monday on the second day of this January. 
    • The local news programs that appeared on the main broadcast channels for WKRG-TV, WPMI-TV, and WALA-TV between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. as part of their regular broadcast time periods for Monday through Friday in recent times ("WKRG News 5 This Morning", "Local 15 Today", and "FOX 10 News in the Morning" respectively) each had what appeared to be video of a member of their respective news operation interviewing a member of the House of Representatives of the United States from the state Alabama (specifically southwest Alabama) named Bradley Byrne. 
    • A message about a new national TV programming feed coming to Alabama Public Television on the Monday of the sixteenth day of this January (under the name PBS Kids) took the place of the one (named WORLD) that usually appeared on one of the digital sub-channels for the Alabama Public Television station licensed to serve the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama sometime between this past Monday (on the second day of this January) and this Tuesday (the name of the station was WEIQ-TV; the digital sub-channels that usually had the WORLD feed were 41-2/42-2 (radio frequency channel number and virtual channel number respectively) and 41-4/41-4; as for the one had the message in that place of that feed, it was 41-2/42-2.

    News for Monday, January 2nd, 2017

    • The last segment of the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. this Monday ("WKRG News 5 at 10:00") appeared on the channel for less than one second (while its news presenter (Rose Ann Haven) was speaking) before being replaced by a commercial advertisement as part of its programming. 
    • The main broadcast channel WPMI-TV had special local weather programming take precedence over special network programming (including programming about a parade in the city of Pasadena in the state of California named "The Tournament of Roses Parade" and a professional hockey game named "The Winter Classic") from their main provider of network programming (the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) several times this Monday (some of the special weather programming included a box with video of some of the network programming about the hockey game). 
    • The member of the local news operation at WPMI-TV who usually presented news for the local news program that usually appeared on the main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV during the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. from Monday through Friday in recent times (Darwin Singleton of "Local 15 Today") used some of the segments that appeared on the channel this Monday to tell its audience that its regular weather reporter (Kelly Foster) was his "new, permanent co-anchor" (or partner) for its broadcasts (she was still its weather reporter).*  
    (*she was his "co-anchor" for previous editions of it after the last person to do so (Kelly Jones) left the program last September).

    • The official Facebook page for WALA-TV was set to have a live video stream of a live celebration of the new calendar year (2017) in the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama ("MoonPie Over Mobile") around the time the year was set to begin (the beginning of the hour of 12:00 a.m. this Sunday). 
    • The main broadcast channel for WALA-TV was set to begin having a recorded begin of a special network program from their main provider of network programming ("Pitbull's New Year's Revolution" from the FOX Broadcasting Company) one hour after the provider began providing it live this past Saturday on the thirty-first day of this December (the program was provided live from the beginning of the hour of 10:00 p.m. and the second half of the hour of 11:30 p.m.).   
    • According to the guides to the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV from Zap2it and TitanTV, the channel was set to have two editions of two syndicated programs that were usually part of its regular programming plan for Monday through Friday in recent times (a comedic program named "The Big Bang Theory" for the hour of 3:00 p.m.; two editions of a syndicated gaming program named "Family Feud" for the hour the hour of 4:00 p.m.) during time periods in which they were not usually set to be part of its programming (this past Saturday on the thirty-first day of this past December between the second half of the hour of 12:00 a.m. and the second half of the hour of 2:00 a.m. in the order in which they were listed (specifically between thirty-seven minutes after 12:00 a.m. and thirty-seven minutes after 2:00 a.m (the channel was usually set to have paid commercial programs during this time period on Saturday in recent times)).

    • The main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV had a local news segment at the time when it usually had the beginning of a programming block from their main provider of network programming on Saturday mornings in recent times this Saturday before having a commercial advertisement that was interrupted by the programming block all ready in progress (the name of the programming block was "CBS Dream Team"; the name of the provider was the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS); as for the beginning of the programming block, it was at the beginning of the hour of 8:00 a.m.).
    • The main broadcast channel for WEAR-TV was set to have a theatrical movie not from their main provider of network programming (the American Broadcasting Company (ABC)) in a time period not normally used for such movies of any source in its programming plans in recent times this Saturday (the name of the movie was "Lake City" (originally released in the year 2008); as for the time period in which the movie was set to be part of its programming this Saturday, it was between the beginning of the second half of the hour of 1:00 p.m. and the beginning of the second half of the hour of 3:00 p.m.). 
    • The Cable News Network (CNN) had a report about a person who appeared to admire one of the weather reporters for the local news operation at WALA-TV (Jason Smith) in a video used for news reports about him for WALA-TV earlier this calendar week (the report from CNN was part of the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 4:00 p.m. this past Friday on the thirtieth day of this December ("FOX 10 News at 4:00 p.m.") and the one that appeared on the channel during the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. this Saturday ("FOX 10 News in the Morning" ("weekend" version)) (the news presenters for the program (Lenise Ligon for the one for this past Friday; Alexa Knowles for the one for this Saturday) both said the person for which the report from CNN about was "making his international debut in the Jason Smith costume he got for Christmas")).
