Conversations in Broadcasting #3

The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 7:00 a.m. on the Sunday of the eleventh day of this March ("FOX 10 News at 7:00 a.m") appeared to have had these conversations between its news presenter (Asha Staples) and one of its reporters (a weather reporter named Matt Barrentine):

Asha Staples: I'm Asha Staples with meteorologist Matt Barrentine this Sunday not so fun day day.

Matt Barrentine: "Definitely not. Definitely not a fun day why do they keep messing with our clocks all the time?

Asha Staples: I know, that too. We lost an hour of sleep--it's still kind of--kind of dark outside.

Matt Barrentine: Yeah, just pick a time and stick with it -- why do they keep on doing that -- it just makes no sense.

(the news presenter laughs)

Matt Barrentine: Let's just go ahead and talk about what does make sense that we do have a severe risk today--uh it's--it has been bumped up--so if you're just now groggily, waking up on this time-change Sunday, it looks a little different here on the map and that is, because-- yes, it was been bumped up with a slight risk zone for, uh, at least the western half of our viewing area here this morning you see that yellow shaded area -- as for the slight risk zone fifteen percent chance of severe weather -- mainly gusty winds of hale -- with the good news is that tornado risk has not been bumped up -- it's still at just--just at that two percent range -- so we're mainly just looking at gusty winds of hale.

(later...)

Asha Staples: Black Panther is the sixteenth film from Walt Disney Studios and fifth Marvel film to hit the one billion dollar mark. And Matt, that was a really good movie, I don't know if you haven't seen it, but, if you haven't, today is a good day to go. Movies and rain, it's really great.

Matt Barrentine: Good day to go see a--I can't see adult movies, it's always kid movies I'm going to

Asha Staples: Ah yeah, your two little ones. It's ok--date night for you and your wife sometimes.

Matt Barrentine: Yeah.

(both of them laugh)

Matt Barrentine: Yeah, it'd be a good day to go see a movie, though, because, you know that we are expecting some rain--some storms to come into the area.
