Conversations in Broadcasting #35

The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 5:00 p.m. on the Friday of the twenty-fourth day of the month of August for the calendar year 2018 ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m.") appeared to have had this conversation between its news presenter (Lenise Ligon) and one of its reporters (a weather reporter named Jason Smith):

Lenise Ligon: All right we have some tough news for FOX 10: four members of our family are leaving. We say good bye to meteorologist Chasity Byrd, investigative reporter Kati Weis, chief photographer Franz Barraza, and photojournalist Ron Gaines. All of these guys have played such a huge role in the success of FOX 10 News; our brand here at the station. We wish them well as they start this new chapter in their lives, but of course, we will miss them dearly. I don't know how we got through the four o'clock, Jason.

Jason Smith: I don't know how we did it, either, and, you know, you saw those pictures there -- the folks at home -- two folks you probably recognize, two folks you probably don't--

Lenise Ligon: Yeah.

Jason Smith: -- um, but- but working with them everyday, you know, they're going to be missed so much.

Lenise Ligon: Yeah, and they're all going to do -- to do good things, too.

Jason Smith: Absolutely.

Lenise Ligon: So, again, we are happy for them.

Jason Smith: Yeah

Lenise Ligon: Yeah.

(smacking)

Jason Smith: Let's take a look at--

Lenise Ligon: Heh, heh, heh.

Jason Smith: -- the forecast...
