Conversations in Broadcasting #41

The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. on the Monday of the tenth day of this September for the calendar year 2018 ("WKRG News 5 at 6") appeared to have had this conversation between its news presenters (Peter Albrecht and Devon Walsh) and one of its reporters (a weather reporter named Alan Sealls)

Peter Albrecht: Hi everyone. Thanks for joining us. I'm Peter Albrecht.

Devon Walsh: And I'm Devon Walsh. Rose Ann and Mel are off tonight. First on five, we are tracking the tropics; there are now three hurricanes in the Atlantic, a disturbance in the Caribbean, and another area out in the Atlantic. Our First Alert Storm Team is closely monitoring.

Peter Albrecht: Is that all that's going on?

Devon Walsh: That's a lot. That's a mouthful, right?

Peter Albrecht: Ha ha ha. All right, I'll tell you who's been busy and that's Alan Sealls. Let's check in with him, Alan, on--on, uh, the very latest on all of these storms

Alan Sealls: All of them. Now it's--it's like trying to keep up if you have a lot of children; you call each one the wrong name and that's the situation we have right now, but none of these right now is a threat to us. That's--that's the best thing I can tell you, but yes, it's very active, and we've seen hurricane seasons like this before. It's not unusual. I'll talk more about that in just a few moments.

A certain TV program dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles that appeared on the main broadcast channels for WPMI-TV during the second half of the hour of 12:00 p.m. on the Wednesday of the twelfth day of the month of September for the calendar year 2018 ("Gulf Coast Today") appeared to have had this conversation between its hosts (Kelly Foster and Terra Reeves):

Terra Reeves: Good afternoon and welcome to Gulf Coast Today. I'm Terra Reeves.

Kelly Foster: And I'm Kelly Foster. Thank you for joining us. Today it is happy birthday, GCT -- two years in a row we have been on the air and it's been so much fun

Terra Reeves: So much, fun. You and I were kind of talking about our favorite things during the show over the past two year.

Kelly Foster: Yeah.

Terra Reeves: And I think one of mine -- we were talking about, um, Jimmy Fallon -- he ate a bug on TV and--

Kelly Foster: Right.

Terra Reeves: -- then I sort of replicated that;

Kelly Foster: Heh heh heh.

Terra Reeves: -- ate a live bug, which was intimidating, but I think that's what makes the show so much fun is that it's so unpredictable.

Kelly Foster: It is.

Terra Reeves: And then I did not really know what to expect whenever we first launched GCT on this--

Kelly Foster: I know!

Terra Reeves: -- date two years ago.

Kelly Foster: I know! I remember when we were getting ready for the show, we have just met and then I was like just talk; just say, like -- we just didn't know what to say.

Terra Reeves: Ha ha ha.

Kelly Foster: And you know I'm so much used to news -- you're not supposed to have an opinion, but, you know, this show has been fun.

Terra Reeves: Mm hmm.

Kelly Foster: It's been like, you are so easy --

Terra Reeves: Mm hmm.

Kelly Foster: -- it's like we're sisters. We have so much fun.

Terra Reeves: Uh huh, and we got the same--we got the same producer, Liz,

Kelly Foster: Yeah!

Terra Reeves: And we got the same director Chris, audio guy Tom--

Kelly Foster: It's the same family.

Terra Reeves: Yeah.

Kelly Foster: Not much's changed, at all.

Terra Reeves: Mm hmm. Not much's changed.
