Conversations in Broadcasting #44

The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Monday of the first day of the month of October of the calendar year 2018 ("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") appeared to have had this conversation between its news presenter (Byron Day) and one of its reporters (a weather reporter named Matt Barrentine):

Matt Barrentine: In checking out the scene here for us here in Mobile tomorrow it is going to be hot. Once again back up to around ninety degrees. [Sighs] Very steamy, very hot, and just things aren't going to be changing anytime soon. Uh, it's going to stay very warm. Like I said, we've--we've got that--that ridge of high pressure that's just not going to break down and, you know, people are asking me at church when is this -- when are we going to see fall and I'm just like, I don't now. I don't know!

Byron Day: I'm just in public relations, not in management. Right?

Matt Barrentine: I know. We'll see it eventually; it's just, it's just not soon.

Byron Day: We promise. Thanks so much for being with us tonight, everybody.  Take care. We'll see you tomorrow.

(end of program)

The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the first hour of 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday of the fourth day of the month of October for the calendar year 2018: ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m.") appeared to have had this conversation between some of its contributors (Byron Day (news presenter), Lenise Ligon (news presenter), and Jason Smith (weather reporter)):

Byron Day: --is committed to letting you know about opportunities in our area. So, if you're looking for a job and you love animals, listen to this one: The Gulf Coast Zoo in Gulf Shores is hiring. The zoo is looking for -- hello -- new team members to provide nutritious meals to more than six hundred animals every day. Candidates must be able to lift and carry fifty pounds and have a valid driver's license. And for more details and to apply, just head to Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo Dot Com slash employment. If you can't remember that, we've got a link on our Web site. That would be a fun job, I think.

Lenise Ligon: I think so.

Byron Day: Yeah!

Lenise Ligon: Any--any one animal that you would defer to someone else to feed?

Byron Day: I would let them, take the lion--

Lenise Ligon: Ha ha ha.

Byron Day: --every time.

Lenise Ligon: Ha ha.

Byron Day: --you know.

Jason Smith: Yeah right now they can keep the foxes.

Byron Day: Ha ha ha--

Lenise Ligon: Well...

Byron Day: --oh yeah--

Jason Smith: That's a whole nother story.

Byron Day: Ha ha ha ha ha.

(note: a certain World Wide Web site related to WALA-TV appeared to have had what might or might not had been a recording of this part of the program (or some of it))
