Conversations in Broadcasting #5

The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV sometime between the hour of 11:00 p.m. on the Thursday of the twenty-second day of this March appeared to have had these conversations between some of its contributors

Mel Showers (news presenter): "It's time now for sports and here's Randy Patrick".

Randy Patrick Setterstrom (news presenter): "All right, I'm glad you finally got to me, I thought we were going to get to midnight and my sportscast turns into a pumpkin at midnight; it's a Cinderella story, right?"

(later....at the beginning of its last segment (after a break from being part of their programming))

Rose Ann Haven (news presenter): We have breaking news: a woman has been shot on Arlington Street this evening in Mobile; shot in the hip; her injuries are not life threatening, but be sure to watch 'News 5 This Morning' for the latest developments; as well as - uh, you can check our Web site WKRG.com for updates.

Alan Sealls (weather reporter): Yeah and on a lighter note--ah, you know that I teach this course at the University of South Alabama every spring (?: mmm-hmm) for almost the last two decades: these are my latest students -- tonight was their final exam -- and now [they've] been working with me the last eight--nine weeks or so -- they all improved tremendously and one day they may actually take my job (?: mmm-hmm) -- they have to work hard for that but if only they would -- many of these students may not actually go into broadcasting -- Daniel Heltz, McKenzie Miller, Darius Stringer, Warren Davis, and Cameron Wilson -- but whatever they do, they're all going to do great things in meteorology and the world -- I can feel it.

Rose Ann Haven: They all got really good grades.

Alan Sealls: Did they get grades.

Mel Showers: And the Alan seals of approval.

(the segment initially had video of a remote location separate from the contributors while having a digital graphic involving text of the words "BREAKING NEWS" before having videos of various persons in front of maps related to weather with digital graphics of"MET 359, Final Exam" and "UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA" while the weather reporter was speaking)
