Conversations in Broadcasting #15

The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 5:00 p.m. on the Tuesday of the nineteenth day of the month of June for the calendar year 2018 ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m.") appeared to have had this conversation between its news presenters (Byron Day and Lenise Ligon) and one of its reporters (a weather reporter named Matt Barrentine):

Byron Day: I guess today would have been a great day -- maybe -- to go barefoot, you know.

Lenise Ligon: All day.

Byron Day: Well yeah. It's warm. It's kind of muggy you know. It's--

Lenise Ligon: Ok.

Byron Day: Yeah.

Byon Day: Maybe, me, not you, huh?

Lenise Ligon: Perhaps. Are we going to--

Byron Day: Yeah--yeah, You go, it's fine.

Lenise Ligon: All right, So, um, are we checking in with Matt Barrentine now?

Byron Day: Are we going to do this first? Ok, all right. We got some road projects to tell you about.

Lenise Ligon: So keep in mind the bridge deck replacement is set to start Friday.

Byron Day: Yes ma'am.

Lenise Ligon: It could affect a lot of drivers in Mobile.

Byron Day: Yeah, expect major delays. What else? Along Airport Boulevard over I-65. Crews are going to be doing work on the bridge deck in the outside westbound lane".

Lenise Ligon: We'll have some street closings out there -- lane closings that is on Airport, and at some point southbound on ramp is going to be closed. The project is supposed to be non-stop for ten days so keep that in mind if you're out driving in that area, and this is where you were going with going barefoot.

Byron Day: This--ok. Now I can say this would have been a great day to be going barefoot.
Matt Barrentine: Well second time's always a charm there, Byron. Yeah, we all could have been wearing flip flops today out in the heat for sure. It would have been a lot more comfortable out here in the heat for sure. It's a hot one and it's going to be hot not only tomorrow, but for the rest of the week. I'll have your forecast coming up for you and then spend of course with outdoors with Jason Smith.
