Conversations in Broadcasting #27

The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday of the twenty-fifth day of the month of July for the calendar year 2018 ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m.") appeared to have had this conversation between its news presenters (Lenise Ligon and Byron Day) and one of its reporters (a weather reporter named Jason Smith):

Lenise Ligon: Ok, well, it's going to be hot out there, obviously. Speaking of hot--

Byron Day: I knew it.  

Lenise Ligon: transition, got a little envelope here, Jason.

(the news presenter named Lenise Ligon appeared to had began opening an envelope)

Byron Day: Oh...

Jason Smith: What's in the envelope?

Lenise Ligon: Well, if I can open it?

Jason Smith: Ok.

Lenise Ligon: So every year, every year, literally, Jason is nominated for -- what is it -- the hottest--

Byron Day: Uh huh

Lenise Ligon: -- local news man

Byron Day: Uh huh.

Lenise Ligon--and, I always give him a hard time about it because he's like so --

(the news presenter named Lenise Ligon appeared to had removed two sheet of paper from the envelope by this point)

Byron Day: [Is there cash in there]

Lenise Ligon: -- he does not like it.

(the news presenter appeared to had removed a certain slip of paper from the envelope

Lenise Ligon Oh wow -- oh hey now, so anyhow, here's your award from the Lagniappe.

Jason Smith: Oh wow.

Lenise Ligon: he is the hottest local TV newsman--

(the news presenter named Byron Day appeared to had rang his left hand immediately afterwards)

Byron Day: Oh, whew, wow.

-- Lenise Ligon: -- but also, in my opinion, the best meteorologist.

(the news presenter named Lenise Ligon appeared to had passed the paper she appeared to had described as an "award" to the one named Byron Day immediately afterwards) 

Byron Day: Oh no question.  

 Jason Smith: Well, thank you very much, Lenise and I wasn't there to get my award--

Lenise Ligon: It's for Jason, Byron.

Byron Day: Oh, I'm sorry, I--

(the news presenter named Byron Day appeared to have had passed the paper described as an "award" by the other news presenter to the reporter immediately awards)

Jason Smith: -- the other night. but, uh, I appreciate everybody who voted, so let's now talk about the weather.

(the news presenters appeared to had laughed immediately afterwards)

Lenise Ligon: You see there. Now he's all red. It cracks me up.
