News for Monday, August 26th, 2019
- A certain part of a certain news program
related to WALA-TV that
appeared to have had been part of their main broadcast channel during
the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Wednesday of the twenty-first day of this
August
("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") appeared to have had one of its
contributors (a certain presenter for certain parts of it related to
news named Lenise Ligon) saying, "A scam alert tonight, a tricky one
too, that uses calendar invites to get people to click on bad links.
It's called calendar phishing and the notifications come from trusted
apps like Google Calendar. I got word of this from a FOX 10 News viewer.
I reached out to the BBB and they tell me this is a new one on
them, but very troubling. It's especially problematic if your e-mail
calendar invite's, automatically synced to your phone. The BBB's advice,
go under settings and turn off that feature, automatically adding
invitations to the phone, and, you know if you're ever unsure about a
link, don't click on it (with some digital graphics involving texts of
"CALENDAR PHISHING" and "SCAM USES INVITES TO GET CLICKS ON BAD LINKS")
- A certain part of a certain Facebook page involving various texts of "WFLA Ed Bloodsworth" appeared to have had texts of "Thank you Tampa Bay! A dream came true three years ago when I started at WFLA News Channel 8.
I used to start my mornings living in East Tampa watching Gayle
Guayardo, Bill Ratliff, and John Winter. I remember telling my mom, "I
want to be like John!" That desire became a reality.", "I want to thank WFLA Steve Jerve WFLA Julie Phillips WFLA Leigh Spann WFLA Ian Oliver Amanda Holly and the rest of the WFLA team for being some of the most amazing coworkers and friends. I will never forget what you've taught me and the memories we made.", and "My new chapter at WKRG
News 5 as chief meteorologist begins next week. I can't wait to join a
fantastic team of meteorologists giving the residents of the Gulf Coast
the information and forecasts they are used to receiving. See you
September 3rd!" related to its administration this Monday (note: WKRG-TV and WFLA-TV appeared to have had been members of a certain holding company named the Nexstar Media Group before this day earlier this calendar year and certain calendar years prior to this one).
- A certain part of a certain news program related to WPMI-TV that
appeared to have had been part of their main broadcast channel during
the first half of the hour of 5:00 p.m. on the Sunday of the
twenty-fifth day of this August ("NBC 15 News at 5") appeared to have
had some disembodied voices being used to say, "The battle to block
the proposed toll, is far from over. NBC 15 was the first to tell you
about it, and we will continue to deliver for you. To view all our
coverage and the latest updates on the Bayway project, visit our Web
site, mynbc15 dot com" while appearing to have had a certain video
involving texts of "I-10 TOLL" and "FOR MORE, VISIT MYNBC15.COM", and a certain contributor for some of its content (a certain presenter for
certain parts of it related to news named Andrea Ramey) saying, "With
the rash of mass shootings and threats of shootings recently, Americans
are asking, if we as a country can find a common sense solution to gun
violence. In response, our parent company, Sinclair Broadcast Group, has
planned an hour-long town hall discussion next week featuring several
people on both sides of that conversation, including Dana Loesch of the
NRA, and Andrew Pollack, the father of a child gunned down at
Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. Join us for Your Voice, Your
Future: Guns in America. This Tuesday at seven o'clock, we will be
streaming it live on our Web site, mynbc15 dot com." with voices similar to the ones mentioned earlier in this paragraph (while appearing to have had some digital
graphics involving texts of "YOUR VOICE, YOUR FUTURE" and "GUNS IN
AMERICA TOWN HALL" appear over the contributor and a certain image involving texts of "TOWN HALL YOUR VOICE, YOUR FUTURE",
"GUNS IN AMERICA", "7PM", "Tuesday, August 27, 2019", and "MyNBC15.com" appear immediately afterwards in between).
