News for Tuesday, December 6th, 2016

  • The format for the first edition of the new local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the second half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. this past Monday on the fifth day of this December ("WKRG News 5 at 6:30") differed from that of their local news program for the first half of that hour that day ("WKRG News 5 at 6:00") by having one of the regular news presenters for Monday through Friday editions of their local news program for the first half of the hour of 5:00 p.m. (Peter Albrecht of "WKRG News 5 at 5") paired with one of the news presenters for Monday through Friday editions of the program for the first half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. (Rose Ann Haven) and by having him initially present news reports alone while standing in the studio for all of their local news programs (a digital list of names for the reports he presented was superimposed beside him as he presented them (this was the same way reports were usually presented on their local news program for the first half of the hour of 9:00 a.m. for Monday through Friday ("WKRG News 5 at 9") in recent times).
    • One of the breaks for the new local news program mentioned in the previous paragraph had a promotional video with audio of a professional announcer (Jeff Davis) saying, "Looking for 'The Andy Griffith Show'? Don't worry!" before saying where residents of the local broadcast area for the video could still find local broadcasts of the aforementioned "show" (he made reference to the main broadcast channel for the companion station of WKRG-TV (WFNA-TV, even though he called it by its brand name ("the CW55")) and the time period in which the "show" was to be part of its programming from Monday through Friday (the second half of the hour of 9:00 p.m.)) since it was no longer set to appear on the channel with the new local news program from Monday through Friday by this past Monday (a list of cable TV and satellite TV channels for the main programming feed for WFNA-TV appeared throughout the entire video while a blurry version of the opening sequence for "The Andy Griffith Show" appeared behind it (the music for the sequence played throughout the video also)).*
(*WKRG-TV and WFNA-TV were members of the same company (Media General) with the same broadcast studio)
