News for Thursday, January 26th, 2017 (corrected)

(correction note: the fee mentioned near the end of this report (a "broadcast TV fee") was corrected)
  • A new monthly fee for customers of the cable TV system operated by Comcast Cablevision of Mobile was implemented last December (a "regional sports fee" ($3.00)).*
  • According to a statement sent to customers of the cable TV system mentioned in the previous paragraph, the Tuesday of the fourteenth day of this March would be the last day the system would have programming from a national cable TV and satellite TV programming service named Esquire.
  • One of the news presenters for the local news operation at WKRG-TV (Rose Ann Haven) said they would have a video named "Wheel of Fugitives" in their programming "every week" while presenting a report about such a video on a recent edition of one of their local news programs ("WKRG News 5 at 10 [p.m.]").
(*the statement mentioned in the second paragraph of this report had this sentence about the fee: "Regional Sports Fee recovers a portion of the costs to transmit certain regional sports networks." (it was similar to its sentence about another fee for customers of the system ("the Broadcast TV fee [$5.00] recovers a portion of the costs of retransmitting television broadcast signals."))
