News for Wednesday, December 17th, 2014

The cable TV system operated by Comcast Cablevision of Mobile recently began providing programming from the National Geographic Channel to digital transport adapters connected to it (their programming was only available to digital cable TV set-top boxes connected to the system by this calendar week).

WKRG-TV, WALA-TV, and WPMI-TV each had a news conference about an arrest in the investigation of the death of a resident of Prichard, Alabama (northwest of Mobile) named Hiawayi Robinson broadcast live through their main broadcast channels at the expense of their regular programming this past Tuesday, December 16th, between 3:50 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. (WKRG-TV and WALA-TV had special news programming about the arrest earlier that day).

The news presenter on today's edition of WPMI-TV's local morning news program (the name of the news presenter was Kelly Jones; the name of the program was "Local 15 Today") used part of it to brag about their news operation being "first" to "break" the news of the aforementioned arrest during yesterday's edition of their local midday news program ("Local 15 News at Noon").
