News for Sunday, June 19th, 2016

  • Two of the news presenters for the local news operation at WALA-TV (Lee Peck and Lenise Ligon) had used the term "nominee" erroneously while referring to one of the members of the Democratic Party in the United States campaigning for the presidency of the states this calendar year (they did not say which candidate by name) while teasing their audience about a report about him or her for some of the local news programming they had on the night of this past Friday (under the name "FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.")**
(*you may access a list of all of the winners of the awards ceremony through this hyperlink (the winners for WKRG-TV were listed under phrase "Alabama APME [Associated Press Media Editors] winners list in Television I")

(**the narrator of the report (Doug McKelroy of the FOX News Channel) had also used the term "nominee" erroneously in reference to one of the candidates as part of the report (he said it was a candidate named Bernard Sanders). He even used the phrase "presumptive nominee" in reference to another candidate for the same party as part of the same report afterwards (he said it was a candidate named Hillary Clinton).
