News for Friday, February 24th, 2017

  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 5:00 p.m. this past Thursday on the twenty-third day of this February ("WKRG News 5 at 5") had a report with a member of a TV station outside of southwest Alabama and other parts of their local broadcast area (Dan Lucas of WFLA-TV in the city of Tampa in the state of Florida) referring to them by one of the brand names for their local news operation ("News 5") while holding a microphone with one of the logos for the operation (the report was about a plan to hold an automobile race in the city of Daytona Beach in the state of Florida (under the name "Daytona 500") this Sunday on the twenty-sixth day of this February).* 
  • One of the breaks for the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. this past Thursday ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") had video** of a fictitious "traffic alert" with graphics resembling those of the graphics of recent editions of their local news programs as part of an advertisement for an automobile dealership in the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama (Springhill Toyota).
  • The local news program mentioned in the previous paragraph had a report about a member of its station (named Chasity Byrd) being the queen of a Carnival society and her being part of a parade for the society this past Thursday.
