News for Thursday, November 30th, 2017

  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 5:00 p.m. on the Tuesday of the twenty-eighth day of this November ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m.") had a video of a report in which a councilor for the city of Mobile in southwest was called by a name not normally used in reference to him in some of the local news programming it had before then in recent times (he was called "Fredrick Richardson" instead of "Fred Richardson" by its narrator). 
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 5:00 p.m. on the Tuesday of the twenty-eighth day of this November ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m.") appeared to have had one of the weather reporters for the news operation at WALA-TV (Jason Smith) doing reports from a certain ceremony (involving the lighting of a tree) that at least one of the news presenters for the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of that hour (Peter Albrecht and Rose Ann Haven on "WKRG News 5 at 5") had said was being hosted by one of its regular news presenters (Devon Walsh (note: the one named Rose Ann Haven was not one of its regular news presenters)). 
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Wednesday of the twenty-ninth day of this November ("WKRG News 5 at 10") had one of its news presenters (Rose Ann Haven) using the word "disgraced" to describe a former host (or "anchor") for a national TV news program named "Today" (Matt Lauer) at the beginning of a report pertaining to him (this is how it was used: "A developing story tonight: disgraced 'Today' show anchor Matt Lauer fired from his job following allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior with a colleague) whereas the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. that day ("FOX 10 News at 10:00") had one of its own news presenters (Lenise Ligon) using the words "a shocking announcement" at the beginning of a report similar to the other one (this is how they were used: "And a shocking announcement: 'Today' show co-host Matt Lauer was fired. The termination coming amid allegations of sexual misconduct). 
  • The local news programs that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the second half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. and the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. this Thursday ("WKRG News 5 at 6:30") each had audio of one of their news presenters (Rose Ann Haven for the first one; Mel Showers for the second one) presenting a report of a plan for a national TV programming service normally used for one of the digital sub-channels for WKRG-TV in recent times (both of them had referred to the service by a nickname often used in reference to it in its programming in recent times ("Me-TV" for Memorable Entertainment Television)) to have a certain program ("Gomer Pyle, U. S. M. C.") broadcast over the course of two hours in honor of one of its contributors (Jim Nabors) while having a graphic with what appeared to had been references to the channel (its virtual channel number) and those of some cable TV systems where its programming feed could be seen in accordance with what being said (this is what both of them had said regarding the programming service: "This Friday, for one night only, Me-TV will air two hours of 'Gomer Pyle, U. S. M. C." starting at 7:00 and ending at nine o'clock in honor of Jim Nabors. You can watch on channel 5.3 (the digital sub-channel), Comcast 177, Cox 699, Mediacom 81. It is not available on Dish Network or DirecTV) after having video of a report pertaining to the contributor (the first video had audio of a report concerning both his life and death whereas the second one was related to his connection to the city in which he was born (note: the news presenter named Mel Showers appeared to had attributed the second one to a TV station related to theirs (WIAT-TV in the city of Birmingham in central Alabama)* while introducing it on the second program).
(*both of them had the same owners due to their being members of a holding company named the Nexstar Media Group
