- The news presenter on today's edition of WKRG-TV's local midday news program (Devon Walsh of "WKRG News 5 at Noon") said, "H-E double hockey sticks" instead of the word "hell" after quoting what a candidate for the presidency of the United States (Donald Trump) said before the word "hell" in his campaign for the presidency this past Monday, December 7th, as part of the report about him.
- The sports reporter for WALA-TV (Michael Brannon) used part of their
local 10:00 p.m. news program ("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") to conclude
their broadcasts about high-school football in their local broadcast
area for the current calendar year this past Monday (December 7th) (he said "covering" the games was a "blast"
before thanking members of his audience on behalf of WALA-TV for
"embracing" them "on air, online, and at the games" during their
"coverage" of the games before commending the football teams for two high schools in the area (McGill-Toolen High School and Saint Paul's Episcopal School in Mobile) for having won championship football games this year.
- According to a sports reporter and a news presenter for the local news
operation at WKRG-TV (Randy Patrick Setterstrom and Mel Showers
respectively), a former public address announcer for the University of South Alabama who died recently (Charles (Gary) Godwin) used to work for
WKRG-TV years ago (the sports reporter mentioned this on the local 10:00 p.m. news program for WKRG-TV ("WKRG News 5 at 10") this past Monday (December 7th) after presenting a report about his death on the program that day; the news presenter said he was greeted by
the former announcer the year he, the news presenter, started
working for WKRG-TV (1969) in response to the sports reporter's mentioning of the announcer's connection to WKRG-TV).
