News for Wednesday, January 17th, 2018
- The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for
WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. on the Monday of the fifteenth day
of this January ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") had its news
presenter (Bob Grip) saying, "And it was a living nightmare for the
folks in Hawaii being told that a missile was just minutes away from
knocking them out. Tonight we know more about the false alarm and the
man who triggered it" and, "It was a mistake that caused more than a
million people to think they were about to die: a look deeper into the
false alarm in Hawaii; considering the nuclear standoff with North
Korea, it's no wonder that some people panicked; Secretary of State Rex
Tillerson traveled to Canada today to keep up pressure on the communist
state" before some of its breaks from appearing on the channel during
that period of time that day whereas it had his appearing to say, "Well
tonight we introduce you to some unsung heroes; the coast guard
personnel who must keep the Hudson River cleared to ensure ship traffic
can keep flowing through the dangerous ice flows. Why are they so

board the cutter on Penobscot Bay" after another ones of those breaks.
- The main broadcast channel for WALA-TV had local news programming at a
hour in which it was usually usually set to have a local TV program
dedicated to entertainment
and lifestyles from Monday through Friday in recent times ("Studio 10" for the hour of 9:00 a.m.) this
Wednesday (note #1: one of the hosts for the program dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles (Joe Emer) was one of the news presenters for this news programming (note #2: the name of the program itself also part of this news programming (it was mentioned at least once by its other news presenter (Sarah Wall), as in when she was saying, "Just a reminder 'Studio
10 is back at the normal time tomorrow and then 'FOX 10 News' will be
back tomorrow morning starting at 4:30. We're all back to normal as long
as the weather is back to normal" (one of the weather reporters for the
programming (Michael White) appeared to had said, "It'll be a lot normal than it was this morning, that's for sure" immediately afterwards))).
- The local news programming mentioned in in the paragraph above this one appeared to have had one of its news presenters (Joe Emer) saying this to one of its weather reporters (Adam Olivier): "Adam, kudos to you. You have been here a long time and you've done a great job this morning keeping everyone alerted to what's going on with the weather" (the weather reporter to whom he appeared to had been speaking said this afterwards: "I appreciate it -- I mean, this is our job, you know. We're here to protect everyone and sometimes it's fun that -- you know -- to see a little snow").
- The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for
WALA-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Monday of
the fifteenth day of this January ("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") had
audio of its news presenter (Bob Grip) saying, "A real house of horrors
in California" at the beginning of a report concerning a certain couple
and some children of theirs (he was saying this immediately afterwards:
"A couple in Riverside County, California is now under arrest accused of
holding their thirteen adult and under-age children captive").
- The local news program mentioned in the first paragraph near the top of this report had a video of a graphic
with the following texts while having music often used in some of the
local news programming it had involving videos related to reports of
tragedies in recent times: "REMEMBERING MARTIN LUTHER KING JR." and
"DARKNESS CANNOT DRIVE OUT DARKNESS; ONLY LIGHT CAN DO THAT. HATE CANNOT
DRIVE OUT HATE; ONLY LOVE CAN DO THAT."
- The local news programming mentioned in the second and third paragraphs from the top of this report had one of its weather reporters (the one named Michael White) saying, "Tonight the winds back off farther but we may have penguins floating about in the Mobile River with a temperature of sixteen and a wind chill between ten and fifteen degrees" while having some animation resembling a penguin on a piece of ice floating on water behind him.
