News for Wednesday, November 16th, 2016
- A microphone with logos for both WKRG-TV and WFNA-TV was used at a ceremony for a professional baseball player originally from their local broadcast areas (Addison Russell from the city of Pensacola in the state of Florida) this past Tuesday on the fifteenth day of this November (both stations were owned and operated by the same company (Media General)).
- The name of a former weather reporter for WALA-TV (John Edd Thompson) was mentioned on a local TV program dedicated to
entertainment and lifestyles ("Studio 10" for WALA-TV) without any explanation as to whom its speaker was referencing (it was mentioned by one of the hosts
for the program (Joe Emer);
as for why it was mentioned, the host was making was suggestion about who could play "air guitar" in a contest promoted on the program a few seconds earlier).
- According to WPMI-TV, part of their broadcast studio was used by volunteers for the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) to provide information about caring for certain persons with special
needs to members of the public by telephone between the hours of 5:00
a.m. and 1:00 p.m. this Wednesday (the main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV had a promotional video about his effort during some of its breaks before this Wednesday and video of the volunteers in some of its local news programming during their visit this Wednesday).
