News for Monday, January 29th, 2018

(note: a quotation in a paragraph concerning WHEP-AM in a previous report for this weblog titled "News for Friday, January 26th, 2017" was corrected (it involved brackets and the words "in" and "as" in a sentence involving the word "Washington"))
  • The broadcast frequency of an FM radio translator (named W262BL-FX) for one of the HD Radio channels for WMXC-FM ("HD2") had programming that was not being advertised in accordance with how it was usually advertised before this January in recent times this Monday (it usually had programming advertised as "100.3 the Beat" and "107.3 The Beat"* before this January; as for how its programming was advertised this Monday, it was being advertised as "Hallelujah 100.3").
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Monday of the twenty-second day of this January ("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") appeared to have had one of its news presenters (Bob Grip) saying, "The government reopens tomorrow after a three-day shutdown. Is this really the end or did lawmakers just press the hold button? We have the full report after this" before one of its breaks from appearing on the channel in that period of time that day.
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. on the Wednesday of the twenty-fourth day of this January ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") appeared to have had a group of monitors each displaying parts of an image involving an animated timer clock, a certain person above some text of "VERNON MADISON", and some text of "EXECUTION" near the top of it while having audio of its news presenter (Lenise Ligon) saying, "Time is running out tonight for a convicted cop killer who has been on Alabama's death row for more than three decades; Vernon Madison set to be executed in less than twenty-one hours".**
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 12:00 p.m. on the Wednesday of the twenty-fourth day of this January ("WKRG News 5 at Noon") had audio of its news presenter (Devon Walsh) referring to a certain person only by the first name she had attributed to her ("Oprah") after initially referring to her by both of the names she had used in reference to her ("Oprah" and "Winfrey") for a report concerning her (note: the local news programming for the channel before then in recent times usually had news reporters and news presenters such as the one named Devon Walsh referring to certain persons for certain reports only by the last names they had initially attributed to them after initially referring to them).
  • The local news programs that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the second half of the hour of 6:30 p.m. and the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Thursday of the twenty-fifth day of this January ("WKRG News 5 at 6:30" and "WKRG News 5 at 10" respectively) had their sports reporter (Randy Patrick Setterstrom) complimenting a national cable TV and satellite TV programming service named the NFL Network for some "coverage" of theirs related to some plans to hold a certain type of game of football (a "Senior Bowl" game) in the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama on the Saturday of ten twenty-seventh day of this January along with "coverage" of  the city itself (for example, the second program mentioned had his saying the coverage was "outstanding" and putting Mobile "in a good light".
(*the programming had been advertised as "107.3 The Beat" after being added to the broadcast frequency of WRGV-FM in the month of December for the previous calendar year (2017))

(**updates pertaining to what she was saying)
