News for Wednesday, January 24th, 2018

  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. on the Thursday of the eighteenth day of this January ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") had one of its news presenters (Lenise Ligon) saying, "The parents who tortured and held their thirteen children captive have officially been charged for their unspeakable crimes. Tonight we're learning new details of their life inside a house of horror. Jonathan Hunt with the story" immediately before having a video of a report involving the words "house of horror" and"virtual prison" without having any mention as to whether the "Jonathan Hunt" she had mentioned was a member of the news operation for WALA-TV or not. 
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Saturday of the twentieth day of this January ("WKRG News 5 at 10") had a video with some graphics involving texts such as "RIGHT NOW", "It Feels Great Outside!", and "WE'RE TRACKING RAIN FOR THE WORK WEEK", and "LIVE" while having audio of its news presenter (Ashley Knight) saying, "Welcome back to 'News 5 at 10': the gulf coast's news leader. The cold is finally out of our area, but rain will be making her return before long. Meteorologist Thomas Geboy will have your full forecast in just a few minutes" immediately after one of its breaks from appearing on the channel in that period of time that day.  
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Friday of the nineteenth day of this January ("WKRG News 5 at 10") appeared to have had its weather reporter (Alan Sealls) saying, "As we end our episodes of as the ice melts" while having an image involving texts of "AS THE ICE MELTS" (this is what he appeared to had been saying by the time it had this graphic: "So this will be our last night with a potential freeze; maybe a little bit a black ice inland, so still be careful, but look at that trend: from the mid thirties when the rooster crows to the low sixties by the afternoon, that will be something to crow about as we end our episodes of as the ice melts. GulfQuest maritime museum; that same ice I was talking about yesterday, still there today, bit by bit, though, dripping away, and unlike yesterday it's not going to freeze tonight; at least at that location).
