News for Thursday, May 24th, 2018 (amended)

- The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for
WALA-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Wednesday
of
the twenty-third day of this May ("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") appeared
to have had one of its reporters (a weather reporter named Jason Smith)
saying, "Ok, let's take a look at the situation around the northwest
Caribbean sea headed for the gulf coast -- it could mess up our holiday
weekend" at the beginning of a report related to weather.
- The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast
channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. on
the Wednesday of the twenty-third day of this May ("WKRG News 5 at 6")
appeared to have had video of various persons holding microphones (with logos for WKRG-TV, WALA-TV, and WPMI-TV)
questioning a certain person being escorted into an automobile (note #1:
the person they were questioning did not speak (note #2: some Facebook pages related to WKRG-TV, WALA-TV , and WPMI-TV each appeared to have had live video of this occurrence separate from that of the program)).
- A certain TV program dedicated to entertainment and lifestyle that
appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of
9:00 a.m. this Thursday ("Studio 10") appeared to have had one of its
hosts (Joe Emer)
saying, "So we're headed toward Memorial Day weekend here -- we want to
tell you, um, tomorrow and Monday, we've got special editions of
'Studio 10' -- we've got a two-part series on the best of cooking, so we
figure Memorial Day weekend, cooking, (Chasity Byrd
(its other host): Mm-hmm) food, all that good stuff (Chasity Byrd: Why
not) -- so yes,
tomorrow and Monday you're going to see some of the best cooking
segments we've had over the past couple of months here on 'Studio 10',
so tune in for our special edition shows" (update for Monday, May 28th,
2018: the channel did not appear to have had "Studio 10" during the hour
of 9:00 a.m. this Monday in accordance with how it was usually part of
its programming on days other than Saturday and Sunday before this
Monday (it appeared to have had a local news program that during that
hour this Monday)).
- The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for
WALA-TV during the hour of 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday of the
twenty-third day of this May ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m.") appeared to
have had one of its news presenters (Byron Day) saying, "The FOX 10 News
investigative team obtained exclusive new details in a deadly
deputy-involved shooting that has divided a rural county for three
years. FOX 10 investigative reporter Kati Weis even obtained dramatic
body cam video of this incident. She joins us now in the studio with a
look into her very latest special report. Kati?" and one of its reporters (the "Kati Weis" mentioned by him) saying, "Well Byron, some people in
Washington County questioned if that shooting should have been ruled as
justified, so they came to us to investigate -- now I want to warn you,
some of the images I'm about to show you are both graphic and
disturbing. These are still images of the intense never-before-seen body
camera video of the incident and tonight we'll play the video for you
and break down the controversial events during and after the event took
place -- those events concerning some family members", and "Now we will
be only airing the body camera video once tonight at ten and we don't
plan to air it again. This is a chilling special report you don't want
to miss. It is called, 'Justified: A Deadly Decision'* tonight at ten
p.m. right here on FOX 10 News. I hope that you will join me"
immediately afterwards (*the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for
WALA-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. this Thursday ("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") appeared to
have had the news presenter named Byron Day saying, "We want to
clarify a statement made during an investigative story regarding a
deputy-involved shooting in Washington County -- the story aired last
night during our ten o'clock newscast -- in that story, a reference was
made about chief deputy Ferrell Grimes dying three months after the
incident. Grimes actually died eight months after the shooting -- we
regret any confusion that this might had caused" before one of its
breaks from appearing on the channel in that period of time).
