News for Tuesday, October 10th, 2017

  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. on the Sunday of the eighth day of this October ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") had its news presenter (Bob Grip) taking about having "shot" video from the "first commercial flight to land in Mobile" earlier that Sunday (it also had him talking about some of the video being on a Facebook page named after him).*
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. this Tuesday ("WKRG News 5 at 10") had a sports reporter for their local news operation (Randy Patrick Setterstrom) acknowledging a relative of his (a nephew named Steven Setterstrom) for one of its sports related to sport (note: this weblog had reports about the reporter not acknowledging his connection to the relative in some other reports related to him in some of the local news programming WKRG-TV had before then.
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV a few seconds after the sports programming it had from their main provider of network programming during the evening hours of the Sunday of the eighth day of this October ("Sunday Night Football" from the National Broadcasting Company (NBC)) had one of its news presenters (Greg Peterson) referring to one of the news reporters for their news operation as if she were member of that provider (he had referred to her as "NBC's Megan Gannon" while doing so) while attributing some video of a news report to her before having the video itself.
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Sunday of the eighth day of this October ("WKRG News 5 at 10") had one of its news presenters (Mel Showers) referring to a local TV station in the city of Biloxi in the state of Mississippi unrelated to them by ownership (WLOX-TV) as a "sister station" while attributing some video of a news report attributed to them before having the video itself, even though some of the local news programming they had before then usually had other news presenters for their news operation using that phrase in reference to TV stations that were actually related to them by ownership (note: WLOX-TV was part of a holding company named Raycom Media whereas WKRG-TV was part of a holding company named the Nexstar Media Group).
(*A Facebook page attributed to WALA-TV appeared to have had live video of his talking about it earlier that Sunday)
