News for Friday, June 26th, 2015
(correction note: the job title for a member of WPMI-TV named Tom Russo was corrected in the previous report for this weblog)
- One of the news presenters for today's edition of WKRG-TV's local morning news program for Monday through Friday ("WKRG News 5 This Morning") said he (Bill Riales) and its other news presenter (Avery Cotton) had "technical problems" hearing the hosts for a regular feature of the program before presenting information the hosts would have presented for the feature if not for these "problems" (the name of the feature was "The Weekend Buzz"; the names of the hosts who would have presented the information were a couple of radio announcers for WKSJ-FM named Dan Brennan and Shelby Mitchell; as for what type of information they would have presented, it was about public events expected to take place between today and
this Sunday, June 28th, in the local broadcast area for WKRG-TV)
- One of the news presenters for today's edition of the local news program mentioned in the first paragraph of this report (the news presenter named Avery Cotton) said, "Hey, that's my dad!" as part of the feature of the program mentioned in that paragraph when an image of the person she said was her "dad" holding a fish was displayed with information about plans for a fishing rodeo near Perdido Key, Florida as part of the feature (the other news presenter for the program named Bill Riales said, "Get out there and have fun with Avery's dad" after presenting the information).
- Today's edition of WKRG-TV's local 9:00 a.m. news program ("WKRG News 5 at 9") was shorter than most of its previous editions due to their having special network news programming from the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) take precedence over it in their main broadcast channel's programming for about 13 minutes (from 9:01 a.m. to 9:14 a.m.) in the time period in which it was usually broadcast from Monday through Friday (9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.).
