News for Wednesday, June 17th, 2015
- A weather reporter for WKRG-TV mistakenly referred to a video game
character known as Kirby as having been part of the Mario series of
video games while discussing a creature that reminded him of the
character called a "flapjack octopus" on the local news program they had
on their main broadcast channel and that of their companion station
(WFNA-TV) between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. today (the name of the weather
reporter was John Nodar; the name of the news program was "WKRG News 5 This Morning").
- The account executive and community liaison mentioned in the first paragraph of this report mistakenly said Alabama Public Radio was the only source for National Public Radio programming, classical music, and certain other programs she had only described as "great" along with the words "in the area" while promoting plans for an event expected to involve Alabama Public Radio and the Fairhope Brewing Company on today's edition of WALA-TV's local entertainment and lifestyle program ("Studio 10") since residents of the broadcast area for WALA-TV may receive such programming from two other radio stations similar to the one for Alabama Public Radio in the same area through FM and HD Radio receivers (the name of the Alabama Public Radio station was WHIL-FM; the names of the other stations were WMAH-FM and WUWF-FM).
