- The local news programs that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. this Thursday ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m.", "FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.", and "FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") had one of their news presenters (Bob Grip) talking about a plan for their local news operation to hold a debate between some candidates for the position of mayor of the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama (specifically the ones supported by at least five percent of the votes used in a survey about them).*
- The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. this past Wednesday on the twenty-sixth day of this July ("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") and the one it had during the hour of 5:00 p.m. this Thursday ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m.") had the sports reporter for their local news operation (Bri MacNaught) telling their audiences to "mark" their calendars for "the return" of a type of sports program that was usually part of their main programming feed on Friday nights during recent football seasons of recent years (the name "First and 10" was normally used in reference in this type of program in years past).
(*one of the news reporters for the program that appeared on the channel during the hour of 9:00 p.m. (Alexa Knowles) had used the word "longshot" in reference to the candidates who did not have at least five percent of the votes in the survey while doing what appeared to had been a live report about them on the program)
