(**Mel Showers: The twenty eighteen Pulitzer awards were announced today and there are two notable winners with Alabama connections: first, Alabama Media Group's John Archibald was awarded journalism's highest honor for commentary; he won a Pulitzer for stories uncovering the past of Republican Roy Moore during Alabama's Senate campaign last year. Second: rapper Kendrick Lamar won for music thanks to his work "DAMN"; it's the first non-classical or jazz work to win the award. The Pulitzer board called the album a work that captures the complexity of the African-American life -- and next month you'll have a chance to see the rapper live in Gulf Shores. Kendrick Lamar is one of the headliners at the Hang Out Musical Festival. The three day festival begins May 18th; it goes through the 20th. He will close out the Hangout festival on May 20th. General admission tickets start at three hundred nineteen dollars.)
