News for Sunday, May 20th, 2018

  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Friday of the eighteenth day of this May ("WKRG News 5 at 10") appeared to have had one of its news presenters (Mel Showers) saying, "Breaking news: a second school shooting today in the U. S.; police say two have been shot at an Atlanta-area high school tonight; that according to CBS 46 in Atlanta. Now this story is still very new and it's still developing. We will continue to follow this story and soon as we get more information, we will pass that on to you right here on News 5, our Web site WKRG dot com, and on social media" without explaining the "CBS 46" part of it and its other news presenter (Rose Ann Haven) saying, "The first school shooting was this morning" immediately afterwards; one of its reporters (a news reporter named Jason Carter) saying, "It's this post which has caused a midtown man -- we're calling Allen -- which has caused him to keep his identity hidden. At first glance it appears harmless -- it's a Craigslist ad announcing an estate sale -- however, when you get past the items listed, you get to the inflammatory portion. It reads: given that this is a high end house and neighborhood, we will have to exclude this estate sale to Caucasians only. No African Africans or N-words allowed" for one of its reports whereas some of its video appeared to have had text of, "Given that this is a high end house and neighborhood, we will have to exclude this estate sale to Caucasians only. No African Africans/Negroes allowed"; one of its other reporters (a news reporter named Peter Albrecht), saying, "And the decapitation was only part of the horrible story", the news presenter mentioned previously (Rose Ann Haven) saying, "Coming up on News 5: What the community did to honor the life of a nine-year-old who died way too soon", and another one of its reporters (a sports reporter named Randy Patrick Setterstrom) saying, "Go get 'em, Robby" immediately after presenting a report regarding a certain "Robby Shelton" for a part of it related to sports.
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. on the Friday of the eighteenth day of this May ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") appeared to have had one of its news presenters (Lenise Ligon) saying, "Breaking at nine: the student accused of killing ten people and wounding ten others inside a Texas high school this morning makes his first court appearance", its other news presenter (Byron Day) saying, "It is chilling to hear his voice" before appearing to have had them appearing to introduce their selves (Lenise Ligon: Hi there and thank you for looking in, tonight. I'm Lenise Ligon; Byron Day: I'm Byron Day. More innocent lives taken; once again we're talking about another school massacre) before appearing to have had the one mentioned first saying, "Yeah and it's really hard to wrap your mind around all of this", and the other one saying, "This is just stunning. We are not even a quarter of a way through the year and there have all ready been twenty-two school shootings. Recent reports claiming this based on criteria such as the number of people shot or if the shooting took place on school campus; the worst so far Parkland, Florida. [On] February fourteenth, seventeen students and staff [were] murdered at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School. Nineteen-year-old Nicholas Cruz is charged with those murders" and a certain video of a certain report involving phrases such as, "Police in front of local schools: something we've seen all too often recently" and, "Things were even scarier at Murphy High School" immediately afterward (note: the local news program that appeared on the channel during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. that day ("FOX 10 News at 10:00 p.m.") appeared to have had the same news presenters presenting different versions of the statements attributed to them mentioned earlier in this paragraph (Lenise Ligon: Breaking news is first tonight; the student accused of killing ten people and wounding ten others inside a Texas high school this morning making his first court appearance; Byron Day: It is very chilling to hear his voice; Lenise Ligon: Hi there, everyone, I'm Lenise Ligon. Thank you for looking in; Byron Day: I'm Byron Day. More innocent lives taken and once again we're talking about another school massacre; Lenise Ligon: When you think about it, it's so hard to really wrap your mind around all of this).
