News for Sunday, June 10th, 2018 (amended)
(correction note: some of the parentheses in one of the paragraphs for a previous report for this weblog named "News for Thursday, June 7th, 2018" were removed and displaced by brackets (amendment note: the second paragraph below this sentence was amended))
- The main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV appeared to have had a
certain advertisement related to their news operation involving audio of a report in which the word "maniac" was being used in reference to a certain subject and audio of separate statements involving the words, "We're not sugarcoating your news" and "We're calling
it like we see it" in its programming this Sunday.
- A certain Facebook page named "On Air Mobile Area Radio Broadcasters" appeared to had received a certain video
(involving a certain song with lyrics such as "the G Crew Shuffle") involving a certain design often
used in promoting the broadcast operation of WMXC-FM in years past on
the Saturday of the ninth day of this
June (note #1: WMXC-FM was usually referenced by the name "WKRG-FM" by the time that design was used in such promotions (note #2: accessing the video might require having both a Facebook account and a membership with the page through that account)).
- The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel
for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. on the Thursday of the seventh
day of this June ('FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m." ) appeared to have had one
of its news presenters (Lenise Ligon) saying, "All right, Byron Day is
joining me for 'FOX 10 News' at ten o'clock. He's in the news room with a
very disturbing story that we'll have for you a little bit later.
Byron" and video of this "Byron Day" (one of the news reporters for the program) moving his mouth without audio immediately
afterwards for a period of time that lasted between one and five seconds before suddenly having audio of the words "that October night" being said over video of the news presenter mentioned earlier appearing beside its other news presenter (Bob Grip) immediately afterwards (the program appeared to have had the news presenter named Lenise Ligon saying "All right, we'll have more from Byron a
little bit later for you tonight" immediately afterwards before having one of its breaks from
appearing on the channel in that period of time that day immediately afterwards).
- Some World Wide Web sites and Facebook pages
related to WKRG-TV and WALA-TV appeared to had been used by their
respective administrations to post certain messages regarding WKRG-TV and WALA-TV and some awards on the Saturday of
the ninth day of this June. (note: the local news program that appeared
on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the
hour of 6:00 p.m. that Saturday ("WKRG News 5 at 6") appeared to have
had a news presenter of theirs (Jason Carter) saying, 'Well it was an
award-winning night for WKRG News 5 -- we've received multiple awards
today at the Alabama Associated Press, or, the Associated Press awards
banquet. News 5 won the AP's top TV award -- outstanding news operation -- and best newscast in Alabama. Visit us online at WKRG dot com for a full
list of winners" while appearing to have had a certain video with
digital graphics and texts of "WKRG WINS BIG AT AP AWARDS" and "WON AP'S
TOP TV AWARD 'OUTSTANDING NEWS OPERATION' " (update for Monday, June 11th, 2019: the local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for
WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. this Sunday ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") appeared to have had one of its
news presenters (Shelby Myers) saying, "All right, we want to take just a
few moments to tell you something we're very proud of: the FOX 10 News
team winning big at the Alabama Associated Press awards. We ranked
first place in four categories -- FOX 10 News investigative reporter Kati Weis gets AP's best reporter award -- Kati and photographer Franz Barraza also
earn first place for best investigative and best documentary -- Devan Coffaro and photographer Ronald Gaines land the top spot
for best lifestyle feature -- Congratulations -- they all worked so
hard to bring you the best and it's paying off").
