  • According to WALA-TV, the reason they did not have the local public affairs program "Rise & Shine" in their programming this past Sunday, December 7th, was due to the folks responsible for providing an edition of it for them to broadcast being late in doing so by the time period in which they would have had it broadcast (between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.) in accordance with their regular programming plans for Sunday ("Rise & Shine" was usually part of those plans as part of the time period mentioned previously).

Commentary: A wish for another local TV station to have the local broadcast rights to "Today's Homeowner with Danny Lipford"

  • I wish another TV station in the Mobile, Alabama-Pensacola, Florida TV market were to have the local broadcast rights to the syndicated home improvement program titled "Today's Homeowner with Danny Lipford" since WKRG-TV seems to lack the ability or interest to have it in their programming (some folks in the market may view it as disrespectful toward its host (Danny Lipford) since he is a native of Mobile and its production company is based in Mobile). For example, they usually had local news programming take precedence over it during the current collegiate football season in the United States due to their broadcasts of collegiate football programming usually ending less than 30 minutes before their time period for having the program broadcast on a weekly basis (6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday). I believe WFNA-TV has a good chance of having those broadcast rights soon if their parent company (LIN Media) were to merge with the parent company of WKRG-TV (Media General) since WKRG-TV would have the option of sharing those rights with them afterwards (WFNA-TV's companion station WALA-TV would not be part of the merger for legal reasons).

  • WEAR-TV's main broadcast channel (radio frequency channel 17-1/virtual channel 3-1) had a paid commercial program in place of the program it usually had between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday (the syndicated entertainment news program titled "Extra") as part of their programming this past Monday, December 1st.
  • According to some Twitter messages attributed to one of the news presenters for WALA-TV's local news programming (Lenise Ligon), she had a chest cold while presenting news for their local 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. news programs ("FOX 10 News at 4:00 p.m." and "FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m.") this past Monday (the pitch of her voice was lower than usual due to the chest cold).
*WALA-TV and WFNA-TV are members of the same company (LIN Media) with the same broadcast facility in Mobile.

Commentary: News presenter comments on his audience's knowledge; vulgar phrase gets broadcast on a local TV news program

  • I did not like hearing one of the news presenters for WPMI-TV's local news programming telling the audience for today's edition of their local morning news program ("Local 15 Today") they all ready knew about the football team for the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama being awarded the title of champion of the western division of the Southeastern Conference (also known as the SEC) for the current college football season after presenting a report about them having received it (personally I believe news presenters and news reporters should not comment on news when they should only be presenting or reporting it).
  • I was surprised to hear a person using the word "hell" in a vulgar manner in a sports report on today's edition of WKRG-TV's local morning news program (the name of the program was "WKRG News 5 This Morning"; as for the report, it was about members of the football team for the University of South Alabama in Mobile planning to hold their final news conference for their current regular football season today, about whether they would be eligible to participate in a "bowl game" soon, and about their losing to the football team for the Naval Academy of the United States in Annapolis, Maryland). I wish they had not broadcast it was not really necessary for the report (it was a personal comment by a player for the football team for the university concerning the football team for the academy).
