- According to a news release issued by the Meredith Corporation this past Friday, December 19th, their plan to make WALA-TV one of their own TV stations was completed by then (note: the copyright information for WALA-TV's local news programming was updated by the end of this past Friday's edition of their local 9:00 p.m. news program ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") to reflect their new parent company).
- According to a news release issued earlier that Friday by the parent company of WKRG-TV (Media General), their plan to merge with the former parent company of WALA-TV (LIN Media) and WFNA-TV was also completed by then (WFNA-TV was still part of LIN Media by the end of the merger).
- WFNA-TV and WJTC-TV had movies based on the same story ("A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens) broadcast during the same time period (7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) this past Friday (the one broadcast by WFNA-TV was titled "Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol"; the one broadcast by WJTC-TV was titled "Disney's A Christmas Carol").
