• WALA-TV's late local news programming for this past Friday, December 5th, was expected to be much later than usual due to their plan to have collegiate football programming from the FOX Broadcasting Company during their regular time period for late news programming for Monday through Friday (9:00 p.m. to 10:01 p.m.). This is why they had local news programming between 12:12 a.m. and 12:45 a.m. today.

• WALA-TV had a report about the death of a former engineer of theirs named Robert Savell posted onto their official World Wide Web site this past Friday and another one broadcast as part of the local news programming they had between 12:12 a.m. and 12:45 a.m. today. 

• Between this past Wednesday, December 3rd, and today, reporters for WALA-TV, WKRG-TV, and WPMI-TV were in Atlanta, Georgia reporting on plans for Atlanta to have a championship football game today with the football teams of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
