• WALA-TV had a report about a former weather reporter of theirs (John Edd Thompson) composing a revised version of a song that he and a partner of his (Jerry Powell) made for the University of South Alabama in Mobile many years ago.

• According to the official Facebook page for WKRG-TV, a picture of the news director for their news department (Michial (Mike) Rausch) was used to test members of the public on how familiar they were with some of the candidates for the presidency of the United States (the news director was not one of the candidates). 

• WKRG-TV had a news reporter for their holding (or parent) company (Media General) discuss a recent debate between a group of candidates for the presidency of the United States on their local news program for the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. ("WKRG News 5 This Morning") today (this was how the reporter was introduced by one of the news presenters for the program: "News 5's national correspondent Mark Meredith is live in our Washington newsroom with the breakdown of the first big contest for democrats. Good morning, Mark").
