(correction note: the words "the Nexstar Media Group" were removed from the end of the previous report for this weblog ("News for Saturday, August 26th, 2017"))
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. this Sunday ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") had one of the news presenters for their local news operation (Lee Peck) using a profane word for "urinate" while presenting a report about a person doing so in a public freezer.
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. this Sunday ("WKRG News 5 at 10") had one of the news presenters for their local news operation (Ashley Knight) talking about their main provider of network programming (the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS)) having a "special report for several hours" about a tropical cyclone in the state of Texas named "Harvey".
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the second half of the hour of 5:00 p.m. this Sunday had one of the sports reporters for their local news operation (Robby Baker) saying some golfers were against "on-time newscasts" after talking about a tournament of golf that appeared on the channel (as part of a special program from their main provider of network programming) before it while presenting a segment of it dedicated to sports (during the first half of the hour of 5:00 p.m.*).
  • The local news programs that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. this Sunday ("FOX 10 News at 6:00 a.m." and "FOX 10 News at 7:00 a.m.") had one of the weather reporters for their local news operation (Matt Barrentine) acting dramatic and emotional while talking about the cyclone mentioned in the second paragraph of this report for some parts of them dedicated to weather (two examples: constantly using words such as "disaster" and "catastrophic" to describe the effects of the cyclone and comparing it a cyclone named "Katrina").
(*the channel was usually set to have a local news program of theirs ("WKRG News 5 at 5") during this time period before having a national news program from their main provider of network programming ("The CBS Weekend News" ) during the second half of it on Sunday in recent times)
