News for Thursday, August 10th, 2017

  • Some recent Firefox browsers were usually capable of having a certain brand of video players (JW Player) capable of playing previous parts of local news programs on the main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV through an Internet video stream for them until sometime between this past June and this August.*
  • A World Wide Web site attributed to WKRG-TV had a page suggesting its visitors could join their plan to hold a debate with candidates for the position of the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama by "record[ding]" their selves asking questions for candidates and have the recordings "message[d]" to a Facebook page attributed to their broadcast operation (note: the video on the page was used as cover video for the Facebook page).**
  • A Facebook page attributed to WFNA-TV had a message attributed to its administration dated for this Thursday about some special programming plans for the main broadcast channel of WKRG-TV*** for this Thursday, this Friday (the eleventh day of this August), and this Saturday (the twelfth day of this August) (note: the Facebook page mentioned in the previous paragraph also had the message (under the words "Visitor Posts" and "WKRG was mentioned in a post.")).****
(*the same browsers were also usually susceptible to having a video player of this brand capable for playing previous parts of local news programs on the main broadcast channel for WEAR-TV through an Internet video stream normally used for them (WPMI-TV and WEAR-TV were related to each other due to their being members of the same holding (or "parent") company (the Sinclair Broadcast Group))
(**only two of the candidates were shown in the video and the videos for the polls mentioned in the second paragraph from the top of this report (the names of the candidates shown were William Sandys (Sandy) Stimpson (the current holder of the position) and Samuel (Sam) Jones ; the names of the ones not shown were Anthony Leonard Thompson and Donavette Ely)
(***WKRG-TV and WFNA-TV were related to each other due to their having the same owners and their being members of the same holding company (the Nexstar Media Group)).

(****the message had the word "Friday" directly above the names of the programs in the programming plan for this Saturday))
