News for Friday, February 16th, 2018

  • A local TV program dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles that was usually set to appear on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 a.m. from Monday through Friday in recent times ("Studio 10") appeared that have had its installment for the Thursday of the fifteenth day of this February end earlier than those of previous installments of it in recent times (by the forty-sixth minute of the hour) on account of the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV having video of a news conference in place of it. 
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Wednesday of the fourteenth day of this February ("FOX 10 News at 10") appeared to have had audio of one of its news presenters (Bob Grip) saying , "Another horrific day at a high school in the United States" at the beginning of one of its reports (this was the part of the report presented afterwards: "tragedy in southern Florida as seventeen people were killed, many more injured when a gunman opens fire in a high school").
  • The local news programs that appeared on the main broadcast channels for WKRG-TV and WALA-TV during the hour of 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday of the fourteenth day of this February ("WKRG News 5 at 5" (during the first half of the hour) and "FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m." (during both halves of the hour) appeared to have videos of reports related to a certain observance involving shops specialized in flowers (Cleveland the Florist on the first program; Florarama on the second program (note: the video for the report on the first program appeared to have a graphic with text of "live").   
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Wednesday of the fourteenth day of this February ("FOX 10 News at 10") appeared to have had audio of one of its news presenters (Bob Grip) saying , "Another horrific day at a high school in the United States" in reference to one of its subjects (this is what he was saying immediately afterwards in reference to the subject: "Tragedy in southern Florida as seventeen people were killed, many more injured when a gunman opens fire in a high school") and, "School split in Baldwin County got down-right nasty today" in reference to one of its other subjects (this is what he was saying immediately afterwards in reference to the subject: "The superintendent Eddie Tyler announced he will no longer negotiate with [Gulf Shores' school board], and that's not all he said, he also leveled a personal attack against Gulf Shores' interim superintendent Doctor Suzanne Freeman. FOX 10 News reporter Alex Knowles has the story"), and, "All right, let the good times--er, roll or [let] cleanup begin. How? Mardi Gras is in the books and that means the street sweepers are out today; any couches left behind?" over some video involving text of "COMING UP".
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Wednesday of the fourteenth day of this February ("WKRG News 5 at 10") appeared to have had a video of a report involving a certain reporter (John Rogers) without any mention of whether he was a member of the news operation for WKRG-TV or not (this was how the reporter was initially referenced on the program by one of its news presenters (Mel Showers): "Reporter John Rogers has the latest from Parkland, Florida") and one of its (other) news presenters (Rose Ann Haven) saying, "Thank you, John. And this is the eighteenth school shooting this year in the United States this year. News 5 has coverage you can count on. "Be sure to come back here and join 'News 5 This Morning' -- the morning show -- beginning at four-twenty five (4:25) with Bill Riales, Jessica Taloney, and John Nodar. They will have you--give you the late-breaking developments you may had missed while you were sleeping" and, "And coming up later in the newscast, we will have a live report from Riverside; a reporter from our sister station WIAT* who's been covering the story since it broke this afternoon will be joining us for a question-and-answer segment" before having its other news presenter (Mel Showers) saying, "And we will ask her some hard questions about--the questions you want her to answer" immediately afterwards (note: the program appeared to have had such a segment involving a reporter being called "Hillary Simon" by the news presenter named Rose Ann Haven"). 
(*WKRG-TV and WIAT-TV were related to each other due to their being members of a holding company named the Nexstar Media Group)
