News for Wednesday, February 7th, 2018

  • A local TV program dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 a.m. on the Monday of the fifth day of this January ("Studio 10") appeared to have had videos related to cooking involving various references to a company related to WALA-TV (the Meredith Corporation). 
  • A local TV program dedicated to entertainment and lifestyles that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WPMI-TV during the second half of the hour of 12:00 p.m. on the Monday of the fifth day of this February ("Gulf Coast Today") appeared to have had its hosts (Kelly Foster and Terra Reeves) discussing discussing a certain video for a law firm based in the city of Mobile in southwest Alabama (Maloney-Frost-Lyons, LLC) and a lawyer associated with it (David Maloney). 
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. on the Monday of the fifth day of this February ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") appeared to have had one of its news presenters (Bob Grip) saying, "We almost never have a Hi-Q match on a Monday; but then again we almost never have snow days either; that was the reason for today's contest at Murphy High School. The panthers hosted the competition in the beautiful Murphy High School auditorium and it turned out to be a really good contest" and one of its reporters (a sports reporter named Bri MacNaught) saying, "We're wishing a very happy birthday to baseball great hammering Hank Aaron" while having graphics with texts of "BASEBALL LEGEND TURNS 84" and "HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANK AARON!".
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Monday of the fifth day of this February ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") had audio of one of its news presenters (Bob Grip) presenting a report in which certain "neighbors" were described as having called "called nine eleven" whereas some captions for the program on an Internet video stream for the program had text in which certain "NEIGHBORS" were described as having "CALLED 9-1-1" for one of its reports ("Now investigators say they don't know the cause of the fire, but it was contained inside the home and apparently burned itself out. They say the fire may have been out for several hours before they were even called. The neighbors stopped by to check on the victim when he or she discovered what happened and called nine eleven"*). 
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the second half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Monday of the fifth day of this February ("WKRG News 5 at 10") had audio of one of its news presenters (Mel Showers) saying, "Mardi Gras in Mobile is in full swing**; Tonight revelers were treated to three back to back parades: first the Order of Venus, second Joy of Life, and finally the Order of Many Faces.      Thousands showed up downtown to see the floats, hear the music, and catch the throws.            More than forty-five hundred people watched the parades live from our WKRG Facebook fan page. We had a nationwide audience; most of whom have never seen a parade of their own", and audio of his saying, "News 5's Debbie Williams is live on the Baldwin County beat -- and Debbie it's just a tragic situation" and a video of the aforementioned "Debbie Williams" saying, "It certainly is, Mel" before having a video of a report involving the words, "Nothing outside of the duplex apartment gave even a hint that something terrible had happened inside" immediately afterwards.  
(*the program appeared to have had its other news presenter (Lenise Ligon) saying this in conjunction with the audio immediately before having it: "In Baldwin County a fire claims the life of a Foley woman")
(**the words "Mardi Gras" were French words for "Fat Tuesday")
