News for Tuesday, March 6th, 2018

  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the Sunday of the fifth day of this March ("WKRG News 5 at 10") appeared to have had some video of a report without any mention of its reporter or whether the video itself was theirs or not. 
  • A Facebook page attributed to WPMI-TV appeared to have had a message attributed to its administration dated for the Sunday of the fourth day of this March concerning a certain member of their news operation beside a hyperlink to a part of a World Wide Web site attributed to them involving a certain article related to him also dated for that Sunday (note: the article was named "Beloved NBC 15 manager passes away".)
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. on the Sunday of the fourth day of this March ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") appeared to have had one of its news presenters (Shelby Myers) saying, "It's not exactly the easiest city to spell, but someone probably should've asked for a second set of eyes; a viewer of a station in New Mexico pointed out this sign about thirty five minutes from Albuquerque -- as you can see, New Mexico's largest city is misspelled; switching the letters 'L' and 'B'. It's unclear if the sign will be replaced."
  • The local news programs that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first halves of the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on the Tuesday of the sixth day of this March ("WKRG News 5 at 6" and "WKRG News 5 at 10" respectively) appeared to have had some reports concerning a former member of their broadcast operation (note: part of the name of another TV station in southwest Alabama unrelated to WKRG-TV was mentioned for the report on the second program mentioned (this was how it was mentioned: "He also hosted a talk show on WKRG and later WALA (for WALA-TV) that touched on racial issues previously not discussed on local TV")). 
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. on the Sunday of the fourth day of this March ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") appeared to have had one of its reporters (a weather reporter named Adam Olivier) saying the word "worst" in reference to rain for one of its reports related to weather (specifically this part of it: "Further to the north, that's where we're seeing some heavier downpours and I did get a few confirmation reports that this is reaching the ground up through here, so Grove Hill, just to the south of Thomasville, Coffeeville, and over to Monroeville, that is where we are seeing the worst of the rain; if you can really call it that -- it's just a few passing showers that'll settle the pollen and the dust outside").
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the last five minutes of the first half of the hour of 8:00 a.m. on the Monday of the fourth day of this March appeared to have its news presenter (Bill Riales) saying, "The biggest names in Hollywood gathered Sunday at the Dolby Theater for the Academy Awards -- they got to envelopes right this year -- 'The Shape of Water', which led all films with thirteen nominations, came away with four wins and congratulations in order to director Jordan Peele who won an Oscar for best screenplay for his movie 'Get Out' " and, "And you remember 'Get Out' was shot in Mobile and Baldwin counties; the movie was nominated for a total of four awards, including best picture; the film made more than two hundred fifty million dollars with a budget of less than five million".*
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WALA-TV during the hour of 9:00 p.m. on the Saturday of the third day of this March ("FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") appeared to have audio of its news presenter (Shelby Myers) saying, "If you're considering a nose job, you shouldn't use a selfie to help you make the final decision because selfies apparently lie when it comes to nose size" for a report involving the aforementioned "selfies", audio of her saying, "People Magazine is produced by the parent company of this station: the Meredith Corporation" after presenting a report involving the aforementioned "People Magazine", and audio of her saying, "He may have ninety nine problems, but money isn't one of them, and it appears investing in alcohol has made Jay-Z a very rich man this year" for a report involving the aforementioned "Jay-Z" without explaining the aforementioned "ninety nine problems".**
 (*the channel was usually set to have a local news program during the last five minutes of the first half of the hour of 8:00 a.m. from Monday through Friday in recent times (usually between parts of a national TV program from the main provider of network programming for WKRG-TV ("CBS This Morning" from the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS)).
 
(**the report involving the aforementioned "People Magazine" included, "Oprah caused quite a stir at the Golden Globes this year when she and others started talking about her running for president. In the upcoming edition of People Magazine, Oprah opens up about the idea of getting into politics, something [she's] said was previously out of the question. [She's said] there was [only] one thing that would cause her to run and it's not the promise of money and power" and, "You can see more of the interview with Oprah on the People TV mobile app; the magazine hit newsstands yesterday" (note: the program appeared to have had video of the aforementioned interview between having the aforementioned parts of the report))
