News for Friday, January 23rd, 2015
- WNSP-FM (105.5) and the national TV and satellite TV programming service for the National Football League (the NFL Network) had plans for broadcasting a football game expected to take place at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile this Saturday, January 24th (the game would be called the 66th Senior Bowl).
- Today's edition of WPMI-TV's local morning news program ("Local 15 Today") had a report narrated by one of the camera operators for their local news department along with appearances by him (his name and professional electronic mail address were displayed in the report like those of WPMI-TV's regular reporters; as for what it was about, it was about some of the folks expected to be among the players for the
game expected to take place at Ladd-Peebles Stadium this Saturday).
- According to WALA-TV, they were completely separate from WFNA-TV by this past Thursday, January 23rd, in spite of their having separate parent companies (the Meredith Corporation for WALA-TV; Media General for WFNA-TV) due to their former parent company's (LIN Media) merger with the parent company of WKRG-TV (the Media General prior to the merger) last December. This explains why WFNA-TV was still set to have local news segment ("FOX 10 News Update on CW55") and a local public affairs program produced by WALA-TV ("Step Up") broadcast on a regular basis after the merger (the news segments were usually about a minute in length and usually broadcast between 9:00 p.m and 9:02 p.m. from Monday through Friday).
