• One of the weather segments for this past Saturday's (January 10th) edition of WKRG-TV's local 10:00 p.m. news program ("WKRG News 5 at 10") had an animated duck that used to appear in weather segments for WALA-TV's local news programming on a frequent basis (the presenter of the segment referred to it as the "puddle ducky" just like some of the presenters for WALA-TV's local news programming). 

• According to this Sunday's edition of WGOK-AM (900)/WXQW-AM (660)'s local weekly public affairs program titled "Pass It On", WALA-TV had a new edition of one of their own local public affairs programs in their programming for the first time since last November earlier this Sunday between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. (it was usually broadcast every Sunday before then between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. and usually called "Rise and Shine")
