News for Wednesday, April 26th, 2017

  • WKRG-TV had some of their local news programming for the Tuesday of the twenty-fifth day of this April dedicated to a telethon to help the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama (the telethon included promotions for the club, solicitations for the telethon itself, and a "phone bank" for members of the public to participate in the telethon).
  • The main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV had an advertisement for a type of programming segment normally used for advertising businesses in their local broadcast area during one of its breaks from having a local news program during the first half of the hour of 12:00 p.m. for this Wednesday before having the programming itself by the second half of that hour after the news program (the name of the news program was "WKRG News 5 at Noon"; the name of the programming segment was "Marketplace 5").
  • The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. this past Tuesday ("WKRG News 5 at 10") did not have the animated sequences normally used to introduce it before then (it began with a weather report (under the name "News 5 Forecast First") and an animated sequence with an announcer saying, "From WKRG News 5, the gulf coast's news leader: breaking news now" (the program had three different news reports labeled "breaking news" in a row afterwards; each of which was presented by one of its news presenters (Mel Showers and Rose Ann Haven))).
