News for Saturday, June 30th, 2018
(note #1: a certain report for this weblog that had been delayed earlier in the calendar week for this Saturday was posted between the time this one was posted and the time the previous one was posted (note #2: the name of the one that was delayed was "News for Wednesday, June 27th, 2018"))
- The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel for
WKRG-TV during the second half of the hour of 6:00 p.m. this Saturday
("WKRG News 5 at 6") appeared to have had its news presenter (Jason Carter) laughing with his face on top of a certain desk after appearing to
have had his self appearing to say, "You ever heard the expression,
Robby: quit while you're ahead?" and one of its reporters (a sports
reporter named Robby Baker) saying, "I have heard it and don't listen to
it, so I will tell you, Jason. Everyone likes a walk-off pitcher"
immediately afterwards.
- The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel
for WKRG-TV during the hour of 5:00 a.m. this Saturday ("WKRG News 5
This Morning") appeared to have had audio of its news presenter (Chad Petri) saying, "A happy ending for a deaf puppy that fell down a hole
Thursday evening in Huntsville. We'll tell you about this animal's
ordeal" over some video involving digital graphics and texts of "NEWS 5
THIS MORNING" and "PUPPY RESCUED", and, "And cue the jaws theme, great
news for people looking to catch a shark
in the near future -- we'll tell you how along this shark fishing season
will last in Baldwin County" over some video involving text of "NEWS 5
THIS MORNING" and "SHARK SEASON EXTENDED".
- The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel
for
WALA-TV during the hour of 5:00 p.m. on the Friday of the twenty-ninth
day of this June ("FOX 10 News at 5:00
p.m.") appeared to have had one of its news presenters (Byron Day) saying, "Also
from us -- Toys 'R' Us is toys no more", "Good news for some local
anglers: that limited shark fishing season was such a big hit that it
was extended and expanded", "We want to wish Katie, David, and John and
the Mobile Hurricanes basketball team the very best of luck", and ,"The
busiest man at FOX 10, Matt
Barrentine, breaks down some light bulb options in modern living. That's
straight ahead" for some of its reports whereas its other news presenter (Lenise Ligon) appeared to had said, "And the Distinguished
Young Women finals continue tonight at seven o'clock. High school
seniors from all fifty states competing in this scholarship program at
the Civic Center Theater. The winner will be announced tomorrow night,
but -- trust me when I say it -- all of these contestants are winners, right"
for one of its other reports.
- The local news program that appeared on the main broadcast channel
for WKRG-TV during the first half of the hour of 10:00 p.m. on the
Saturday of the twenty-ninth day of this June ("WKRG News 5 at 10")
appeared to have had one of its news presenters (Mel Showers)
saying, "Since this was so unexpected, the Smith family says it has no
money for a funeral for Jamarcus" and , "A
forty-foot pleasure boat that crashed on the jetties of Perdido Pass two
weeks ago is no longer an eye-sore for the city" for the narratives of some of its reports,
and one of its reporters (a weather reporter named Taylor Sarallo)
saying, "So unfortunately, it's going to be a very stormy weekend for
all of us -- and really a stormy next seven days -- so, you got the rain
chance everyday somewhere between fifty and eighty percent, and yes,
unfortunately, that does includes your fourth of July -- we're
looking at a sixty percent chance of storms at this time -- the only good
news is with all of this rain it's going to keep those high temperatures
in the upper eighties, so feeling like the nineties rather than the
triple digits we've seen the last week or so, and the lows are going to
be warm each night in the mid seventies".
